Job Summary:
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Manufacturing Engineering & Industrial Facilities Manager to establish and lead a team at the new Warren, MI facility. In this dual-capacity role, you will be responsible for overseeing all manufacturing engineering and maintenance/facilities management activities for the facility. Heavy emphasis on maintenance and facilities management. This includes managing a team of manufacturing engineers, controls engineers/technicians, and facilities/maintenance personnel. The primary function is to optimize manufacturing processes, maximize equipment availability, ensuring facility readiness and compliance, and driving operational excellence. Your leadership will be critical in shaping both the production capabilities and the physical infrastructure of our new technical center.
Responsibilities:
Manufacturing Engineering:
- Lead and manage a team of manufacturing engineers and technicians providing guidance, mentorship, and performance feedback.
- Develop and implement manufacturing strategies, processes and procedures to optimize efficiency, productivity, and quality standards.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including design, quality, and production, to ensure seamless integration of new products, technologies, and manufacturing methods.
- Conduct regular assessments of manufacturing processes, identifying areas for improvement, and implementing corrective actions to enhance productivity, reduce costs, and increase overall efficiency.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives by promoting lean manufacturing principles, implementing best practices, and championing process optimization projects.
- Monitor and analyze manufacturing metrics, such as yield, cycle time, scrap rates, and equipment uptime, to identify trends and opportunities for improvement.
- Collaborate with equipment suppliers to ensure proper installation, commissioning, and troubleshooting of manufacturing machinery and tools.
Facilities and Maintenance Management:
- Lead and manage a team of maintenance and facilities technicians providing guidance, mentorship, and performance feedback.
- Oversee the maintenance and repair activities for production equipment, ensuring minimal downtime and maximum operational effectiveness.
- Develop and implement preventive maintenance programs for manufacturing equipment as well as building systems and infrastructure.
- Oversee the planning, development, and maintenance of the facility infrastructure, including utilities, HVAC, lighting, and building systems.
- Ensure the facility complies with all local, state, and federal regulations, including environmental, health, and safety standards.
- Manage facility-related projects such as expansions, renovations, and equipment installations.
- Coordinate with contractors, vendors, and service providers to ensure timely and cost-effective facility operations and improvements.
- Monitor facility performance metrics and implement strategies to improve energy efficiency, sustainability, and operational reliability.
- Ensure emergency preparedness plans are in place and regularly reviewed.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related field. A master’s degree is a plus.
- Minimum 8 years of experience in leading manufacturing engineering and/or maintenance/facilities teams within the automotive industry. Experience in powertrain and electric vehicle products is preferred.
- Proven experience in industrial facilities management, including oversight of building systems, maintenance programs, and regulatory compliance.
- Strong knowledge of manufacturing processes, equipment, and technologies related to automotive powertrain and electric vehicle part manufacturing.
- Proficiency in lean manufacturing principles, Six Sigma methodologies, and process optimization techniques.
- Experience in managing cross-functional teams and leading complex projects in a manufacturing and facilities environment.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with a data-driven approach to decision-making.
- Strong project management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks, meet deadlines, and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with diverse stakeholders.
- Knowledge of quality standards, regulatory requirements, and safety protocols in both manufacturing and facilities operations.
- Proficiency in using computer-aided design (CAD), manufacturing software, and facilities management systems.
- Ability to adapt to a fast-paced and dynamic work environment with changing priorities and requirements.
