Position Duties

You will have a wide variety of work as a Maintenance Ranger including:

Maintaining the Lake and Campground Facilities. We take pride in the beautiful setting at Lake Jennings. It is important to perform routine upkeep of the lake, reservoir, campsites, trails, docks and surrounding areas. This could be as minor as conducting landscaping or trash removal but could also include larger projects such as basic plumbing tasks or minor concrete and asphalt repairs, to ensure a clean, safe and welcoming environment.

Other responsibilities could include inspecting and repairing facilities and equipment such as gates, restrooms and utility systems. Our Maintenance Rangers need to be able to operate hand and power tools, vehicles, boats, and other equipment safely and effectively.

Patrol and Security. Our Maintenance Rangers are responsible for monitoring the lake and campground during evening hours to ensure safety and prevent unauthorized access. Maintenance Rangers regularly investigate unusual activity, respond to wildlife encounters responsibly, and report inappropriate behavior to law enforcement.

Guest Interaction and Support. Customer Service is one of our main values here at Helix. We strive to provide excellent customer service by answering questions, addressing complaints, and assisting with recreational programs and special events. This includes enforcing rules to ensure a positive experience for all visitors.

In addition, our Maintenance Rangers may collect fees, process camping reservations and permits, and manage inventory of supplies and equipment, while keeping workspaces organized.

Minimum Qualifications

Qualified candidates will have the following:

  • Education experience substantially equivalent to graduation from high school or possession of a GED
  • A minimum of one year of experience in maintenance, recreation or lake operation.
  • A valid Class C California driver’s license and ability to maintain insurability under the district’s vehicle insurance policy.
