Environmental Scientist (Multiple Positions) (Stantec Consulting Services Inc.; Woodbury, MN): Support data sourcing and analysis of landscape emissions and removals for nature-based carbon solutions projects. Identify restoration and conservation opportunities and calculate rates of greenhouse gas flux or carbon sequestration in plants and soils. Draft technical reports describing primary literature reviews, global standard-aligned calculation approaches, and geoscientific analysis results. Perform numerical modeling of shadow flicker on sensitive receptors from proposed wind turbine operation. Assess impacts and prepare reports based on modeling results. Calculate anticipated costs for decommissioning and other activities of solar, wind, and battery energy storage projects at end of life and prepare reports. 40 hours per week, M-F (9:00 a.m.–5:00 p.m.). Salary range is $55,200 - $80,100 per year. Individuals in this position may be paid a discretionary bonus. The final agreed upon compensation is based on individual education, qualifications, experience, & work location. #LI-DNI #GTM
Qualifications
Requirements:
Must have a Bachelor’s degree or foreign equivalent in Environmental Science, Geography, or a related field, and 3 years of related work experience.
Of the required experience, must have 3 years of experience with the following: Numeric calculations and preparing data for environmental monitoring equipment; and Numerical modeling and spatial analyses.
Of the required experience, must have 1 year of experience with the following: Shadow flicker impact modeling using WindPRO software; Nature-based greenhouse gas accounting; Identifying conservation and restoration opportunities in ecosystems; Writing technical reports summarizing numerical calculations of geoscientific analysis results; Tracking trends in global climate change; and Mitigation strategies for climate change solutions.
Telecommuting permitted up to 3 days a week, depending on business need.
