The Refrigeration Supervisor leads the Night Shift refrigeration team in managing a 3,000+ ton ammonia system and compressed air systems critical to plant operations. The role is responsible for ensuring safety, regulatory compliance, and team training in a fast-paced production environment.
Job Responsibilities
- Oversee the day-to-day operations, maintenance, and repair of the ammonia refrigeration system and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements while operating safely and efficiently.
- Manage performance, maintenance and testing of compressed air systems that power production operations.
- Mentor and coach refrigerator operators and build a strong, knowledgeable team.
- Collaborate with Refrigeration Manager and PSM Coordinator to manage preventative maintenance schedules, audits, and ensure documentation meets regulatory standards.
- Facilitate the PSM/RMP programs to help ensure compliance with USDA, OSHA, EPA, and DHS regulations
- Must pass fit-for-duty medical evaluation (including pulmonary testing for respirator use). Periodic testing may be needed when business necessitates (i.e. after exposure to hazardous material, serious health changes).
- All other duties as assigned
Minimum Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED
- Able to wear an Air Purifying Respirator for Line Equipment Opening
- Strong troubleshooting, mechanical repair and critical thinking skills
- Familiar with industrial tools, mechanical systems, and safety practices
- Comfortable working at heights, specifically on a roof
- Involvement in PSM/RMP program management.
- Able to respond to emergency situations and fill various roles on emergency response team.
Preferred Experience
- 2+ years of verifiable Ammonia Refrigeration experience.
- Demonstrated ability to lead and manage a team
- Experience with operating and maintaining ammonia refrigeration systems in excess of 10,000 pounds of ammonia.
- Completion of Ammonia Refrigeration training (ex: Lanier Tech, Garden City Ammonia Program, etc.)
- RETA training or certifications (CARO, CIRO, CZRST, CRES)
