Required Qualifications

  1. During the semester term of the appointment, the student hourly must be enrolled in no fewer than 6 credit hours. For summer periods the student hourly must: (1) have been enrolled in no less than 6 hours in the past spring semester or (2) be pre-enrolled in the upcoming fall semester in no less than 6 hours or (3) be enrolled in summer session or (4) be admitted to study in the upcoming fall semester. Student Hourlies may be undergraduate or graduate students. (Exceptions granted for GRA/GTA/GA appointments DO NOT apply to Student Hourly appointments). 

Advertised Salary Range

$15.00 per hour

Preferred Qualifications

  1. Ability to identify and summarize academic articles or books on related topics.
  2. Ability to collect and analyze interview data.
  3. Good oral and written communication skills.

Position Overview

Dr. Elizabeth Cox and Dr. Megan Denneny are looking for a highly motivated graduate student interested in assisting with a few research projects over the next year within the areas of strategic sport communication, public relations, and health communication. The specific responsibilities of the position will be shaped by the student’s interests and background, but potential projects include: 
  • Assisting with an interview project focused on fan relationships (in its beginning stages), including tasks such as participant recruitment, interviews, transcription, and preliminary data analysis.
  • Supporting the development of a methodology-focused paper in public relations, which may involve some coding, writing, and analysis assistance. 
  • Launching a joint project led by the student with faculty guidance aimed at submitting to AEJMC’s Mid-Winter Conference.
All of these projects would have co-author opportunities.
