Position Overview
Develop and execute a comprehensive Continuous Improvement plan for the Marine organization. Support the transformation of the Marine organization in the management and execution of all operating and financial metrics in the deployment and installation of global optical cable networks.
Responsibilities
- Develop a deep understanding of the processes used across SubCom and a SME specific to Marine functionality.
- Establish the data requirements to deliver lead and lag measures across this process platform that incorporates process standards vs. actuals and daily variance to plan execution tracking criteria.
- Collaborate with cross-functional leaders to deliver actionable data as inputs into a robust continuous improvement program.
- Partner with the SubCom Finance organization to monetize cost standards and incorporate actual spending into continuous improvement work.
- Lead the aggregation of data as part of LDM or structured problem-solving work streams; develop the capabilities across the Marine organization to deliver process improvements based on data.
- Execute in a disciplined way, organizing short Kaizen projects, as well as medium and long-term improvement projects, which will drive service model and gross margin improvements across the sub vertical footprint.
- Lead cross functional improvements initiatives, integrating supply chain, quality, EHS functions to plant management towards a single goal to establish a world class operations footprint.
- Challenge, coach and support Marine leaders and others to meet Continuous Improvement targets.
- Hold the team accountable for executing against improvement targets or initiatives.
- Be recognized as a master in collaboration across boundaries, transferring best practices among the business and partnering with leadership.
- Promotes a culture that reflects company’s values, encourages outstanding performance and promotes positive work environment, as well as strengthening team spirit within and across other functions. Reward productivity as part of an ongoing process to establish SubCom as an employer of choice.
Qualifications
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in engineering or related field, Master’s Degree preferred.
- DMAIC Six Sigma Black Belt
- Min. 10 years of relevant professional experience with a focus on production, logistics or industrial engineering.
- Previous experience leading and transforming operations at multiple sites is essential.
- Strong background in lean practices, experience in data analytics, value stream mapping and implementing lean tools, and leadership best practices.
- Experience training others in transformational problem-solving including management of change / culture is required.
- Must possess strong problem-solving skills, utilizing a proven structured, disciplined approach (A3, 8D, 5P, etc.)
- Excellent communication and coaching skills at all levels from the shop floor to top management, including the ability to speak, read and write fluently in English.
- Strong team leader, ability to think strategically and execute tactically to deliver results
- Analytically, data-driven and a problem-solving mindset.
- Ability to have a holistic overview of complex situations and flexibility to deal effectively with difficult issues when they arise.
- The role has a heavy emphasis on supporting and coaching Leaders to ensure significant improvements in the operating metrics.
- 25-40% domestic travel.
