Kachemak Bay Flying Service (KBFS), a wholly owned subsidiary of System Studies & Simulation, Inc. (S3) is seeking a Director of Maintenance for its Contractor Owned, Contractor Operated business activities in Temple, TX.

Military experience is a plus. This is not a teleworking position.

Position Overview: 

Reporting directly to the KBFS Site Manager, the Director of Maintenance plans, supports nad supervises sustainment, maintenance and related support services for general aviation commercial customers and for government contracts awarded to KBFS and preformed IAW DCMA 8210.1D and/or FAA 14 CFR Part 145Position Overview:

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Develop business plans for the Part 145 Avionics Repair Station and General Aviation Maintenance operations.

  • Resource the repair shops with equipment, parts, and supplies, and support the operation with work order estimates, invoicing,    budget control, and employee training.

  • Provide on-site management and oversight of production control and maintenance performance, and direct up to 12 technicians to    ensure safe, timely, efficient execution of customer requirements to established standards of performance (IAW DCMA 8210.1D for  military customers and FAA 14 CFR Part 145 for avionics installation and repair.)

  • Ensure acceptable risk mitigation, quality control and compliance with projected profit margins for each deliverable.

  • Ensure KBFS aircraft maintenance operations comply with applicable FARs, contract requirements, government regulations, and  company policies and procedures.

  • Coordinate with KBFS maintenance inspection authority, avionics accountability manager, corporate safety manager, functional  leads for KBFS Parts 135 and 141 operations, and line pilots to develop, implement, and sustain maintenance procedures and  policies in the KBFS General Operations Manual (GOM), 14 CFR Part 145 Repair Station Manual, and SOPs.

  • Ensure required deliverables (contractual and GOM required) are prepared and dispatched to proper authorities and oversight on  time.   

  • Coordinate recommendations for the Safety Management System (SMS) with the parent company corporate safety manager (CSM).  

  • Coordinate with the site manager to forecast mission requirements, aircraft availability, scheduled services, off-site deployment  support, ferry flights, aircraft inspections, and pre-lease/pre-buy assessments.

  • Ensure all maintenance technicians are trained, certified, and supervised according to requirements specified in the pertinent  sections of 14 CFR for each operation. 

  • Establish and adhere to maintenance reporting procedures IAW KBFS management and FAA mandated requirements and ensure  delivery of accurate and timely reports to all corporate leads and to all applicable government and commercial customer  representatives.

     

Experience/Skills Required:

  • Bachelor's degree required or 6+ years of aviation management experience in lieu of degree

  • 10+ years' experience performing or managing aviation maintenance in the military or FAA 14 CFR Part 145 or Part 135  maintenance operations

  • 6+ years' experience leading/managing aviation maintenance teams

  • Airframe & Powerplant Certificate with inspection authorization
