Qualifications
The Application Assister will be responsible for identifying eligible clients and assisting in completing the SNAP application The Application Assister is also responsible for providing community outreach and education services under this program.
Essential Functions

Identify eligible clients and providing SNAP application and renewal assistance in English Spanish and Vietnamese

Complete 14 days and 45 days follow up calls to clients who have been assisted with applications and renewals

Assist the Program Manager in coordinating the program activities to meet the grant goals
-
Assist the Program Manager in carrying out outreach activities and program responsibilities.

Responsible for referring parents/adults in family to appropriate internal and external resources
-
Complete 11 months follow up calls to determine percentage of families who have retained the SNAP benefit
-
Perform outreach and educational events, such as health fairs, parent events, faith-based organizations events and school events
-
Make group presentations to educate people about the SNAP benefits
-
Complete all required certification and training required federally, by state and/or locally to assist clients with SNAP applications

Perform other duties as required

Ability to complete online training for the SNAP certification. Must pass requirements to become certified and comply with any state or federal rules related to training,

Certifications and Licenses Required

Texas driver’s license or alternate means of transportation

Certification for Application Assisters as required by the funder or if applicable state and federal laws
Work Environment
This job operates in a professional office setting as well as in the field. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.
Physical Demands
This is largely a mobile role, requiring working at varied locations in the assigned counties. Specific physical demands include:

Ability to transport and handle materials up to 20 lbs. for use at program locations

Manual dexterity sufficient to operate phones, computers, copier, portable equipment, and rolling briefcase cart with lock

Ability to write and speak clearly to convey information and able to hear at normal speaking levels both in person and over the telephone
Position Type/Expected Hours of Work
This is a full-time position based on 40 hours per week. Occasional evening and weekend work may be required as job duties demand.
Travel
This position requires less than 10% out-of-region travel. Local in-region travel for meetings may be approximately 40% to 50%.
Required Education
Required Education and Experience

High school diploma or equivalent
-
Associates’ college degree or more a plus
-
Minimum of three years’ full-time work experience
-
Experience with community outreach, sales, customer service, or client enrollment services
Other Requirements/Preferences

Ability to communicate in both English and Spanish verbally and in writing preferred

Reliable transportation to and from work sites
