Position: Medical Services Coordinator

Department: Medical

Status: Exempt

Shift: Full time (Monday – Friday, 8:00am to 5:00pm)

Salary Range: $85,238.40 - $119,496.00 (annual) We use a bona fide factor system to determine starting wage (years of experience, education, credentials, and specialty skills that relate to the job requirements). There are 15 steps on the scale and offers are usually within the first couple of steps.

Position Requirements: Must have an associate’s degree or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school.  Bachelor’s degree and experience in mental health & substance abuse nursing is preferred. Six months to one-year related experience and/or training. A combination of education/experience may be considered.


Summary: Medical Services Coordinator is a Registered Nurse, licensed to practice in the State of Oregon, according to Oregon’s professional nursing standards. Will provide quality care to clients and coordinate care between providers. In addition to clinical responsibilities, this position supervises assigned medical assistants.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities: 

  • Conduct mental/physical health assessments, initial assessments of new clients
  • Help consumers with renewal of prescriptions/prior authorizations when needed
  • Review client medications; provide patient and staff education
  • Through a variety of opportunities and to varying degrees, monitor and evaluate medication effectiveness and side effects – to include periodic AIMS testing for clients receiving neuroleptic medications
  • Resolve patient problems/needs by utilizing multidisciplinary team strategies and working closely with other staff as a member of a treatment team
  • Assure quality of care by adhering to therapeutic standards, measuring health outcomes against patient care goals; making/recommending necessary adjustments; following agency philosophies/standards of care set by the State Board of Nursing Practice Act
  • Promote patient independence by establishing patient care goals; teaching patients, family/friends to understand condition, medications and self-care skills
  • Complete documentation of services rendered
  • Liaison between the LMP’s and members of the treatment community
  • Attend/participate in staff meetings/assigned committees
  • Respond to medically related calls
  • Participate in prevention/education community outreach and in Agency CQI program
  • Complete required paperwork in a timely manner
  • Provide consumers/staff assistance with Prescriptions Assistance Program
  • Screen all initial health evaluation forms and when indicated, contact the patient for additional data
  • Other duties as assigned

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:

  • Candidates must be legally employable by a U.S. business
  • Unencumbered Oregon State Registered Nurse license required

Working conditions: This job operates in a medical/office environment.  Work with and operates phones, computers, fax machines, copiers, and other office equipment. This job is in-office.
