ABOUT THE POSITION
The Assistant General Manager plays a key leadership role at Nonami Plantation, working closely with the Property Manager to ensure smooth day-to-day operations and long-term strategic success. This role combines administrative, operational, and hands-on management duties—ranging from financial oversight and human resources to wildlife and habitat management, dog and horse care, and property improvements.
This is a unique opportunity for a motivated, detail-oriented professional with strong leadership skills and a passion for land, wildlife, and team management.
You will also be responsible for:
- Assisting the Property Manager with overall plantation management, including the training and care of dogs and horses.
- Conducting and assisting with annual performance reviews.
- Partnering with the Property Manager to set goals and strategies for plantation operations.
- Assisting with budgeting, accounts payable, monthly reporting, and project oversight.
- Leading, hiring, and training staff to uphold the mission and vision of Turner Enterprises Management (TEM).
- Supervising vendors and ensuring all contractual obligations are met.
- Maintaining strong relationships with community, county, and state partners.
- Managing daily plantation operations, including recordkeeping and administrative support.
- Coordinating employee schedules, projects, and safety practices.
- Overseeing habitat management programs, including quail conservation, dove field development, and timber management.
- Managing facilities, fencing, corrals, water systems, and capital improvement projects.
- Overseeing care, training, and veterinary upkeep for plantation dogs and horses.
- Operating and maintaining vehicles, tractors, heavy equipment, ATVs, and UTVs.
- Implementing invasive species management and assisting with prescribed burns.
- Responding to natural hazards such as fires, storms, or emergencies.
- Performing general plantation work and other duties as assigned by the Property Manager.
YOUR QUALIFICATIONS
Essential:
- A high school diploma or GED is required; one to three months of related experience and/or training is preferred. An equivalent combination of education and experience will also be considered.
- Experience operating heavy equipment is a plus; proficiency with ATVs and UTVs is highly desirable.
- Firearms experience is required, with the ability to handle shotguns and rifles safely and confidently.
- Ability to work long hours when needed, including weekends and holidays.
- This position requires the operation of vehicles, and you’ll need to possess a valid driver’s license or be able to obtain one within 30 days of employment. Your driving record will need to meet the standards and requirements of the Company and the Company’s insurance provider.
- You’ll need to present documentation establishing both identity and employment authorization within three days of hire pursuant to federal law.

ACCOMMODATIONS

On a regular basis, you can expect to:
- Stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, dig with various tools, or feel; reach with hands and arms; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl and talk or hear.
- Lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
- Perform physical labor for extended periods of time.
On a frequent basis, you can expect to:
- Ride an ATV/UTV for extended periods of time on uneven, rough terrain and occasionally on roads and flat terrain while performing farm duties.
- Climb ladders.
- Lift and/or move up to 100 pounds.
On an occasional basis, you can expect to:
- Lift and/or move more than 100 pounds.
Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
You will regularly be exposed to moving mechanical parts; outside weather conditions; extreme cold and extreme heat. You will frequently be exposed to firearms, high precarious places and fumes or airborne particles. You will occasionally be exposed to toxic or caustic chemicals. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. While performing the duties of this job, you must be alert and aware of dangers that are present while working in a semi-remote property environment.
