Join our Risk Innovation Team, where data meets cutting-edge technology to safeguard BILL and our customers. As an Associate Risk Data Scientist, you'll play a foundational role in supporting the team’s mission to identify, analyze, and mitigate financial risks crucial to our continued growth. This is an exceptional opportunity to build your skills alongside seasoned experts, contribute to meaningful projects, and help drive innovation that enhances trust and safety in our platform.
What you'll do:
- Develop and deploy machine learning models to detect fraud, model transaction risk, and improve credit underwriting.
- Analyze and monitor credit portfolios to minimize losses.
- Design experiments to evaluate the impact of data science solutions on user experience.
- Communicate complex analytical findings to both technical and non-technical stakeholders, including business partners and executives.
- Proactively identify and address process pain points, providing sustainable and impactful solutions.
We’d love to chat if you have:
- Bachelor's degree in a technical field such as Statistics, Computer Science, Economics, Mathematics, or the Physical Sciences.
- Experience in data analysis and statistical modeling using tools like Python and SQL.
- Understanding of a wide range of machine learning techniques (e.g., clustering, classification, regression, neural networks, anomaly detection) and their application to business problems.
- Ability to navigate ambiguity and guide projects toward clear, actionable business outcomes.
- Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
- PLUS: Experience applying data science and analytics to solve risk-related problems.

The estimated salary range for this role is noted below for our San Jose based role. Our ranges for each role and job level are based on a variety of factors including candidate experience, expertise, and geographic location and may vary from the amounts listed above. The role is also eligible for a competitive benefits package that includes: medical, dental, vision, life and disability insurance, 401(k) retirement plan, flexible spending & health savings account, paid holidays, paid time off, and other company benefits.
