Job Title: HS Soccer Assistant Coach

Reports To: Secondary Principal, Athletic Director & Head Coach

Job Overview: Crosspoint Christian School is looking for a highly dynamic sports coach to furnish our teams with interactive and well-rounded training. The successful applicant assists the Head Coach with plans, organization, and management. 

As a member of the Gateway OneTeam, you will support and demonstrate an understanding of church’s mission: living the Jesus-centered mission. Possessing a character that reflects biblical godliness, demonstrating a meaningful personal relationship with Jesus Christ, and active involvement in a local body of Christian believers are key qualifications.

Please note: This at-will position may be held in addition to a classroom teaching or other work assignment, and is paid based on student participation numbers.


Job Status: 3-4 months/season

Exempt Status: Exempt 

Salary Range: $1,000-$1,600/season

Responsibilities and Duties

Assists the Head Coach with any assigned duties, including:

  • Coordinates sports tryouts and assigns individuals to fitting positions 
  • Plans and conducts regularly scheduled practice sessions during the sports season. Practices should be conducted a minimum of 4x per week for at least 1 ½ hours.
  • Coordinates with appropriate personnel regarding scheduling, use of facilities, eligibility lists, transportation of student-athletes, and game management.
  • Manages Assistant and Volunteer coaches and other support staff, as applicable.
  • Communicates effectively with parents/guardians.
  • Serves as a positive role model to student-athletes and demonstrates a high standard of personal conduct and sportsmanship at all times
  • Provides for the safety and welfare of participants; maintains injury records and other athletic records as necessary. 
  • Ensures that athletes are compliant with all Crosspoint Christian Schools policies. 
  • Emphasizes fundamental skills, safety, team play and strategy, and sport rules.
  • Obtains and manages all pertinent sports-related equipment.
  • Bolsters teamwork, sportsmanship, character, and camaraderie.
  • Adheres to safe sporting practices.
  • Exemplifies a Christian lifestyle and oversees the spiritual leadership of athletes.

Requirements

  • Be at least 25 years of age
  • Drive the team to games throughout the season.
  • Must complete the driving abstract and be approved by the CCS Transportation Department
  • Must meet WIAA compliance requirements (see following)

Expectations

  • Prepares athletes for competition through daily practice sessions during the season, which should be conducted at a minimum of twice per week and a minimum of an hour per session.
  • Drives their team to all games throughout the league season.
  • Ensures that all athletes on their team are guaranteed participation time in all practices and games.
  • Attends the rules interpretation meeting and training(s).

Education

  • Minimum 1 year of coaching experience at the HS level

WIAA Compliance Requirements

  • Be employed by Crosspoint Christian School a ministry of Gateway Fellowship of Poulsbo.
  • Be a high school graduate or have completed a graduation equivalency diploma (GED) program. 
  • Annually complete the WIAA general rules clinic and the WIAA-approved rule clinic for the sport being coached.
  • Hold a valid First Aid and CPR Certification.
  • Successfully complete Concussion Recognition and Management with Return to Play Protocols Training (valid for 3 years).
  • Successfully complete Sudden Cardiac Arrest Awareness and Training (valid for 3 years).
  • Before the beginning of the third year of coaching employment, a member school coach (paid or volunteer) must complete a school-district-approved Coaching Principles training that requires a minimum of five (5 hours) of instruction, or complete the NFHS Coaches Fundamentals Course, or attend all sessions of the WIAA Coaches School, or other Coaches Schools as approved by the WIAA or local school district. After initial completion, coaches will be required to repeat this training every three (3) years.
