About the Department
Under general supervision, this position assists with and conducts general repair services and preventative maintenance services at a variety of recreational venues and on a variety of equipment.
*This position performs duties deemed to be safety sensitive. Employees holding this position participate in pre-employment and random drug testing under Town’s policies*
Position Duties

- Provides general maintenance, troubleshooting and cleaning services in/on a large variety of recreational venues, including, but not limited to commercial swimming pools, ice sheets, fitness equipment, turf fields, etc. Program areas include:
- Ice Maintenance
- Pool Maintenance
- Facilities Maintenance
- Identifies and remedies possible hazardous situations, completes necessary reports and notifies supervisor in a timely manner.
- Ensures all facility, venue, and building equipment is in proper working order to maintain safe conditions for patrons and staff.
- Responsible for effective safety and risk management practices and minimizing loss to the Town by abiding by department policies and emergency response plans.
- Conducts basic janitorial duties as necessary.
- Establishes and maintains positive working relationships with internal and external customers, vendors and contractors.
- Utilizes effective written and oral communication techniques to communicate with Town of Parker staff, management, and the public in a positive and professional manner.
- Completes assigned facility maintenance and task checklists.
- Assists in the inventory of assigned equipment areas.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
The requirements listed below are representative of the education, experience, certification and/or licensure required. An equivalent combination of education and experience to perform the essential duties and meet the necessary employment standards may be considered.
Must be at least eighteen (18) years of age.
A high school diploma or GED equivalent is preferred.
Possession of or ability to readily obtain a valid Driver's License issued by the State of Colorado for the type of vehicle or equipment operated; safe driving record and a minimum of two (2) years of driving history.
Possession of or ability to readily obtain a CPR, AED and First Aid certification within ninety (90) days of hire.
Minimum, Additional Qualifications – Ice Maintenance
- Experience operating an ice resurfacing vehicle (Zamboni) and related equipment is preferred.
- Experience operating a skate sharpening device is preferred.
- Experience and ability to ice skate is preferred.
The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
- Knowledge of relevant town, state, and federal laws, regulations, and policies.
- Knowledge of troubleshooting techniques.
- Knowledge of a variety of maintenance techniques for commercial pools and recreational venues.
- Knowledge of recreation center equipment and facilities.
- Skill in working with a variety of hand tools and janitorial equipment.
- Skill in the use of computers and various software programs.
- Skill in multitasking and project completion.
- Skill in verbal and written communication.
- Ability to troubleshoot and problem solve independently.
- Ability to operate a variety of pool, fitness and ice equipment and tools/equipment.
- Ability to provide a positive customer service attitude towards all people entering the facility.
- Ability to operate and repair small/light equipment, such as power tools.

Tools & Equipment
Requires frequent use of ice resurfacing equipment, pool maintenance equipment and a variety of recreational maintenance and janitorial equipment and supplies.
Physical Demands
Requires regular sitting, standing, walking, talking, handling, feeling or operating objects, stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling. Requires occasional reaching with hands and arms, climbing and balancing. Requires moderate physical activity with heavy lifting, up to fifty (50) pounds. Requires close and distance vision acuity and the ability to adjust focus, allowing a broad field of vision.
Environment
Work is performed in a variety of environments, both indoors, and outdoors. Employees holding this position will be exposed to extreme cold or heat and wetness/humidity. The noise level is usually high and may range from moderate to extreme. The employee may occasionally work with or around hazardous items or hazardous conditions such as mechanical equipment, electrical equipment, chemicals, or radiant energy.
Part-time and Seasonal Town of Parker employees have limited access to benefits which include: employee assistance program (EAP), one (1) hour of sick time accrued for every thirty (30) hours worked, and employee plus one (1) other member in your household a membership to the Parker Recreation Center and/or Fieldhouse. .Full pay range is: $19.10/hr. - $24.20/hr.
Starting pay for this position is $20.27/hr.
