Zepf Center has been serving the Lucas County community for over 50 years. We are the leading provider of behavioral health and substance use disorder services in Northwest Ohio. Services include adult and child psychiatric, substance abuse, case management, residential, Crisis Care, and therapy programs, as well as career development and wellness services. Zepf Center also offers primary care medical services to our patients to contribute to their continuum of care. Zepf Center is a trauma-informed agency and environment for both patients and staff.
Summary:
The Nurse Manager is responsible for overseeing the daily operations and overall effectiveness of the outpatient psychiatry clinic. This role works closely with senior leadership, prescribers, nursing staff, and support staff to ensure safe, efficient, and patient-centered care. The Nurse Manager provides day-to-day operational supervision while driving performance improvement initiatives that support high-quality clinical outcomes, patient and staff satisfaction, and the long-term growth and stability of the organization.
Hours: Monday - Friday; 8:30am - 4:30pm with supervisory duties and various after hours contact. Could be asked to provide coverage at multiple Zepf Center locations.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Support day-to-day coordination of patient care in collaboration with providers and interdisciplinary team members.
- Supervise nursing staff, providing guidance, motivation, and accountability to ensure high performance.
- Develop and manage staff schedules to align with patient needs, acuity, and budget requirements.
- Ensure medical staff schedules are optimized to maximize billing potential, minimize downtime, and maintain high standards of care.
- Ensure smooth and efficient workflows in daily operations of the medical practice.
- Monitor, analyze, and assess practice performance; identify opportunities and implement measurable improvement initiatives.
- Ensure compliance with healthcare regulations, accreditation standards, and organizational policies.
- Monitor quality of care, infection control, and patient safety practices.
- Oversee organization, stocking, and auditing of medication rooms to ensure adherence to policy and quality standards; ensure regular audits are conducted for quality assurance.
- Provide onboarding, mentoring, and ongoing training to nursing staff; deliver or coordinate required education such as BLS.
- Ensure all clinical staff maintain current licensure, certifications, and required training.
- Participate with HR in recruiting, interviewing, and hiring of nursing staff.
- Track and report performance and quality metrics; support audits and site visit readiness.
- Lead routine team meetings to share updates, address challenges, and reinforce continuous improvement.
- Participate in interdepartmental and committee meetings as assigned.
- Oversee the preparation of management reports as requested.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
- Provide direct supervision, leadership, and support to nursing staff, including RNs, LPNs, and medical assistants.
- Conduct regular staff meetings for adult and youth nurses and medical assistants to share updates, address challenges, and support team communication.
- Ensure nursing and medical assistant staff receive regular supervision and performance feedback.
- Support the recruitment, onboarding, and training of nursing personnel in collaboration with senior leadership.
- Conduct performance evaluations and provide coaching to staff for professional growth and accountability.
- Address staffing concerns, conflicts, and disciplinary issues in alignment with agency policies and the Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA).
- Ensure staff adherence to established agency policies, procedures, and standards of care.
- Maintain and update Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) related to staffing and clinical operations as directed.
- Monitor staff documentation for accuracy, timeliness, and compliance with billing and coding requirements.
- Participate in interdepartmental, supervisory and committee meetings as assigned, providing input to support operational effectiveness.
- Further personal supervisory knowledge, skills, and abilities to improve communication, leadership, and departmental cohesion.
- Complete performance evaluations and other documentation in alignment with organizational standards, goals, and competency expectations.
- Furthers own knowledge, skills, and abilities to support staff, and Zepf Center’s strategic vision. As well as developing supervisory knowledge, skill, and ability to create a fluid source of communication within the department and agency.
- Exhibits a leadership role within the department: holding employees accountable; critiquing and praising staff; assigning duties and expectations within the department; and enhancing staff’s knowledge, skills, and abilities by training, delegation, opportunities, and coaching.
- Ability to comprehend department budgets and fiscal process. Understanding that fiscal recommendations need to correspond with Zepf Center’s strategic vision.

Requirements
Position Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree required.
- Active Nursing License required.
- 5 years’ experience including psychiatric and health assessment nursing.
- Experience in a progressive supervisory role preferred.
- First Aid/CPR and CPI certificates required.
Those eligible to drive company vehicles must have a valid driver's license and be eligible for coverage as defined by the agency commercial insurance carrier. Those who drive personal vehicles in the course of business must be able to provide proof of insurance.
