POSITION PURPOSE
The Maintenance Technician is a member of the Maintenance and Reliability team and typically works under the direction of a senior technician. The Maintenance Technician is responsible for performing preventive maintenance (PMs), facility work orders, and equipment repairs in a safe manner, ensuring the correct processes and procedures are followed, and all the work is documented. The Maintenance Technician works as a member of the larger plant maintenance team and may be assigned to any open work orders or projects as directed. PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES
- Owns personal and team safety. Observes all safety rules and always uses the proper safety equipment.
- Assist with setup, adjustment, and operation of production machinery.
- Perform routine inspections and preventive maintenance tasks.
- Work with senior mechanics to troubleshoot mechanical issues and perform minor repairs.
- Maintain accurate records of work performed.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives by identifying equipment issues and suggesting solutions.
- Ensure compliance with company quality standards and production schedules
- Meet daily work order production or project milestones as assigned.
- Interface effectively with production and maintenance personnel.
- Monitor and perform seasonal maintenance activities and facility equipment during non-standard work hours.
- Flex to other areas as needed, demonstrating teamwork and a commitment to team success.
- Perform all other tasks as directed by the supervisor.
NATURE & SCOPE
Maintenance Technician reports to the Maintenance Manager.
KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS
- 1-2 years of experience in industrial equipment maintenance.
- Demonstrated competent writing skills including the ability to document a process in a logical and coherent manner. Ability to communicate with supervisors and co-workers through written memos or email that are professional, concise, and clearly understood.
- Demonstrated oral communication skills including the ability to communicate professionally with BAC customers and co-workers. The ability to share information verbally is clearly understood and technically accurate.
- Competent in math including addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, fractional computations, and fraction to decimal conversions.
- Basic mechanical aptitude and interest in machine maintenance.
- Ability to use hand tools, power tools, and measuring devices safely.
- Strong attention to detail and willingness to follow instructions.
- Ability to read and understand basic technical manuals, diagrams, and schematics.
- Able to read a tape measure and perform basic fractional calculations
- Ability to safely operate material handling equipment including pallet jacks, lift trucks, jib cranes, and gantry crane
- Ability to safely operate a man lift
- Computer skills include competence in locating relevant instructions, forms, and databases.
WORKING CONDITIONS

While performing this job, the employee is regularly required to stand and walk up to 90% of the time. The employee will also be required to bend, stoop, kneel, squat, sit and reach on a regular basis during a normal working shift. This position requires frequent lifting up to 50 pounds. Work can be done at ground level, in confined spaces, or at elevations. Exposures include elevated noise levels associated with a manufacturing environment, fluctuations in temperature ambient conditions as well as intermittent exposure to the weather in and about the yard and dock areas. Working hours can include any of three shifts and generally are scheduled for forty hours a week. Weekend overtime is to be expected.
