ROLE:
Schnabel is seeking a Project Engineer to assist with the successful execution of geostructural construction projects. Working closely with project managers, foremen, estimators, and clients, to support all phases of the project lifecycle, from pre-construction through closeout. This is a hands-on role that combines technical engineering knowledge with field coordination and project management responsibilities.
Our typical scope of work includes installation of piles, lagging, walers, tiebacks, and braces for support of excavation projects. We also take on challenging projects with underpinning, grouting, tunneling, and unique structural support as part of our scope. Candidates who have direct construction experience and familiarity with our company’s traditional scope of work are preferred.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Develop project plans, define scope, set timelines, and allocate resources.
- Manage project costs, track expenses, and ensure adherence to the budget.
- Collaborate with Project Managers and Superintendents to plan and execute projects effectively.
- Coordinate subcontractors, vendors, and field crews to ensure smooth daily operations.
- Review and interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and contracts.
- Assist with technical problem-solving in the field; provide engineering support throughout a projects lifecycle.
- Help enforce safety protocols and conduct site safety audits in coordination with the safety department.
- Help maintain positive relationships by addressing concerns and providing updates.
REQUIREMENTS:
- 1 – 2 years of experience in a Construction Management or Engineering role or successful completion of an internship with construction firm supported by references.
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Construction Engineering, or a related field is required.
- Proficiency in reading and interpreting construction plans, specifications, and technical drawings.
- Ability to pass pre-employment drug test.
- Local and regional travel as required for projects.
- Focus, stand, walk, kneel, climb, bend, and work from heights or within confined space during assigned shift.
- Ability to lift and carry 50 pounds of materials over rough terrain.
- Driver’s license, reliable transportation, and a safe driving record.
- Follow all safety procedures, use proper protective equipment, and help maintain a safe job site by identifying and reporting potential hazards.

COMPENSATIONS AND BENEFITS:
- Total Compensation between $80,000.00 - $120,000.00/year
