Life Sciences DSC Lower-Year Interns (positions below)
The Life Sciences Departmental Student Council (DSC) is looking for passionate and dedicated lower-year Life Sciences students to join our team for the 2024-2025 academic year. As a DSC member, you will play a vital role in representing your peers, promoting academic and social events, and fostering a positive and inclusive environment within the Life Sciences program.
You will work closely with fellow council members, faculty, and students to enhance the Life Sciences community, develop leadership skills, and gain valuable experience in student governance. Below are the available positions, along with their specific responsibilities and desired qualities.
Note: These roles are designed for students in their first or second year of Life Sciences to encourage early involvement with the DSC and to develop leadership and organizational skills.

Time Commitment and Remuneration

Position(s) Available
First Year Representative (1 Position)
- Responsibilities:
- Advocate for the academic needs of students and address any academic-related questions or concerns.
- Collaborate with the Second Year Representative to plan and execute the Life Sciences clothing sale.
- Organize and execute Major vs Specialization Night in collaboration with the Director of Life Sciences and Biochemistry.
- Participate in DSC events, weekly council meetings, and other relevant activities.
Marketing Intern (1 Position)
- Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with the associated Marketing Director.
- Promote all DSC Life Sciences events across various platforms.
- Design and create engaging graphics for event promotion.
- Manage and maintain social media accounts (e.g., Facebook, Instagram) and the Life Sciences website.
- Participate in DSC events, weekly council meetings, and other relevant activities.
- Application Requirement:

EDII Intern (1 Position)
- Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with DSC members to integrate equity, diversity, inclusion, and indigeneity (EDIAA) principles into all events and initiatives.
- Work with the associated EDII Director to plan at least one EDII-related event per semester.
- Research and highlight contributions made by equity-deserving students and faculty within the Life Sciences program on social media and the website.
- Assist in creating content for equity-related observances (e.g., Black History Month).
- Participate in DSC events, weekly council meetings, and other relevant activities.
