About the Role
The Program Manager assumes administrative responsibility for the management of the Creative Writing Program and assists in the planning, development, implementation, and evaluation of the Creative Writing Program in Lifelong Learning. The Creative Writing Program is made up of The Writer’s Studio, community outreach initiatives, and individual courses, workshops and events. The Program Manager participates in the Program’s budget development process and financial management. The incumbent promotes the Creative Writing Program by developing and implementing marketing strategies, forming community partnerships, and coordinating community events and publications, including "emerge: The Writer's Studio Anthology". The Program Manager works collaboratively with the Associate Director, course instructors and participants, University, faculty, visiting lecturers, students, and members of professional associations and the community, and Lifelong Learning colleagues to ensure the objectives of the Program are met.
The ideal candidate has excellent knowledge of the literary arts, creative writing curriculum, the current publishing landscape, and the needs of emerging writers.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Arts, Social Sciences, or a relevant discipline and four years of experience, including administrative experience in the area of adult education programming, or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
- Excellent program and project management skills.
- Excellent financial administration, personnel management and leadership skills.
- Excellent customer service, interpersonal, and communication skills (both oral and written).
- Excellent organizational, analytical reasoning, problem-solving, and conflict management skills.
