Full time, Permanent position available for a service orientated health professional at Macquarie University Health.
Competitive remuneration in line with the Support Services Agreement (Administration Officer Level 5 to Level 6 – Base salary of $71,594 to $75,312.) and access to salary packaging via Maxxia to maximise your take home pay. Salary based on relevant experience and qualifications.

The Role
Macquarie University Health has an exciting opportunity for a Patient Admissions Officer to join the team at Patient Services team at Macquarie University Health. The Patient Services team plays a pivotal role in the hospital, as they aim to provide outstanding customer service throughout key patient processes including bookings, pre-admissions, main switch and during the admission.
This vacancy is largely focused on accurately and efficiently managing Patient accounts prior to and during their hospital admission. In this role, you will work within the Patient Services Team to provide a high level of understanding for fees associated with possible costs with health funds or estimates, health fund contracts and eligibility, communicate cost or health fund details to patients, take payments and ensure all billing-related information is collected. You will be working within the Patient Services Team and alongside internal and external stakeholders to ensure patients are informed financially.
You will also perform Private Health Fund Eligibility checks, liaise with insurance providers to clarify coverage and resolve billing discrepancies. In addition to this, you will also assist in other patient-facing and admin duties such as admissions duties, guiding patients with enquiries and requests, making sure documentation is up to date and work clinical departments as needed for patient care.
To be successful in this role, you will have demonstrated previous experience in handling private hospital patient accounts or large private practice billings. Alternatively, practice management skills with an emphasis in accounts and billings for smaller to medium sized organisations will be highly beneficial.

To Apply
To be considered for this position, you will demonstrate the below requirements in your CV and a 1–2-page cover letter.
Strong experience and knowledge of private health funds and/or healthcare billing, particularly in a private hospital or private practice setting
Demonstrated reception, administration and/or main switch experience – preferably working a healthcare setting
Demonstrated sound verbal and written communication skills and ability to build rapport and empathise with patients
Demonstrated commitment to high level of customer service delivered in a professional manner at all times
Competency in health-related software packages (preferably TrakCare, Eclipse, Fund Portals)
