Purpose & Scope of Position

Engineering Manager (EM) is responsible for engineering and design matters on the project and assists the project manager. An EM will fill 3 main roles during the execution of a project. These are Manager, Technical Leader and Communicator. The EM on a project is responsible for scope definition and manages the planning, resourcing and scheduling all the engineering related activities. In addition, the EM provides technical leadership, integrates the disciplines and resolves issues. The EM is responsible for delivery of all the technical deliverables to achieve the project objectives within the specified time frame and budget.

Experience

15 years of experience in Design-Fire Protection Systems

Qualification

• Postgraduate or graduate in an engineering discipline • Registration as a professional engineer with the governing authority (preferable)

Key Responsibilities

Fire Protection Engineer – Roles & Responsibilities

  • Prepare Fire Protection System Design Basis Reports.
  • Develop P&IDs for Fire Water Pumping Systems, Spray, Sprinkler, Foam, and Gas-based Fire Protection Systems.
  • Design layouts for Hydrant, Spray, Sprinkler, Foam, and Gas-based Fire Protection Systems.
  • Perform hydraulic flow calculations using Pipenet software.
  • Prepare enquiry specifications and Bill of Quantities (BOQs).
  • Conduct technical and commercial bid analysis.
  • Review and approve vendor drawings and documents.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Lead and check fire protection system designs.
  • Execute design work for various fire protection systems.
  • Address resource gaps in fire protection engineering for ongoing projects.

Key Skills Required:

  • Expertise in Fire Protection Systems (Water-based including foam, Gas-based systems).
  • Industry exposure in Chemical, Oil & Gas, Industrial, and Building sectors.
  • Strong domain knowledge in fire protection design and engineering.
  • Familiarity with national/international codes such as NFPA, FM Global.
  • Hands-on experience in fire protection system design, especially in chemical, oil & gas, and industrial projects.
