Position Description:
The position exists to aid the police department in day-to-day operations, both in the field and in the office. The role helps balance the call load on officers and office staff while serving the public.
Position Duties
Professional/Technical Duties and Responsibilities:
- Patrol and assist officers with calls for service, including municipal, parking, animal, medical, and other assigned duties.
- Transport and secure various items and people, including arrested persons, property, evidence, drugs, and police equipment.
- Assist office staff by delivering documents, taking calls, taking reports, making fingerprinting appointments, etc.
- Work with partnered animal shelter and vet services. Maintain and update animal policies and procedures.
- Assist with and monitor new CSO/cadet training and knowledge. Update the FTO training book and ensure training standards.
- Maintain cordial public relations with residents and business communities to share information, resolve problems, and enhance customer service.
- Provide traffic aid by assisting with stalled vehicles, directing traffic at accidents, and aiding with stolen cars.
- Maintain and deploy a speed trailer and camera trailer. Maintain and relay squad cars for maintenance purposes.
- Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Ability to work calmly in emergency situations and under pressure
- Exceptional customer service skills
- Knowledge of state and municipal ordinances or laws
- Critical thinking and independent judgment
- Ability to remain courteous and impartial
- Effective communication skills in person, via phone, or electronically
- Proficient in reading and writing reports in a law enforcement setting
Education and Experience:
- High School Diploma or GED.
- At least one years' experience in a relevant field
Other Qualifications
Physical and Mental Requirements:
The position requires the ability to handle the physical demands of patrolling, transporting items and people, and managing equipment. The role demands both physical stamina and mental resilience to perform various tasks efficiently under different conditions.
Working Conditions:
