EXPERIENCE DESIGNER (FT – PROJECT-BASED)
Job Summary:
This at-will position is being hired to support a specific client project. While this role is a full-time position with Falcon's Creative Group, employment will not extend beyond the duration of the project. The assignment will conclude once the project is completed, at which time employment with Falcon's Creative Group will end. The expected project timeline is to be determined. For avoidance of doubt, employment with Falcon’s would be at-will at all times, meaning that the employee or Falcon’s may terminate the employment at any time (including prior to the conclusion of the project).
As an experience designer, you will play a pivotal role in shaping and realizing innovative and immersive entertainment. This hands-on position demands a skilled creative with robust skills in developing conceptual ideas for experiences, rides, shows, and thematic spaces under the direction of the creative director. The experience designer is a creative, innovative, and organized thinker able to create multiple technical and creative approaches and solutions to meet critical design criteria. You have a theme park-based understanding of guest experiences, hourly ride capacity (THRC), show timing, vehicle spacing, queue line interactives, and pre-show media and effects. Your designs adhere to local building codes. You must have creative, artistic, and illustration ability. You will interface regularly with other disciplines including illustration, narrative, graphics, engineering, operations, architecture, technical solutions, and master planning. Your designs will captivate and engage audiences at the cutting edge of the entertainment industry.
Essential Functions:
- Conceptualization and Ideation:
- Participate in brainstorming sessions and design charrettes to generate creative and compelling concepts for entertainment experiences.
- Provide sketches to inform illustrators of creative design intent.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure alignment with overall project objectives, budget constraints, and technical feasibility.
- Schematic Development
- Provide design iterations and development during the schematic phase, ensuring alignment with the established design vision.
- Design Development:
- Provide detailed development of drawings and details during the Design Development phase, ensuring alignment with the established design vision.
- Interdepartmental Collaboration:
- Collaborate and communicate with show set, architecture and facility, graphics, project programming, master planning, and technical to ensure holistic development of experiences with a focus on collaboration, efficiency, and excellence.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration:
- Collaborate with external vendors, consultants, and contractors to bring design concepts to fruition.
- Trends and Innovation:
- Stay abreast of industry trends, emerging technologies, and innovations within the experiences and entertainment sector.
- Integrate cutting-edge design elements to enhance the guest experience and maintain the organization's competitive edge.
Job Qualifications and Requirements:
- Bachelor’s or master’s degree in design, architecture, or a related field.
- 2-5 years experience in a design role within the themed entertainment industry.
- Strong portfolio showcasing successful themed entertainment design projects.
- Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite, AutoCAD, 3DS/Rhino/Maya, and Revit.
- Strong hand sketching skills.
- Excellent creative problem-solver, collaborator, and communicator.
- Detail-oriented.
- Adapt well to change.
