Description
Why This Role Matters
At Springside Cheese, cheesemaking isn’t just production — it’s tradition, craftsmanship, and community all rolled into one. Every wheel, block, and curd we create connects us to our farmers, families, co-workers, and customers who have trusted us for generations.
As a Cheesemaker, you’ll carry on that tradition. You’ll take local milk and turn it into something that not only tastes incredible but also brings people together. This role blends hands-on skill with leadership, guiding a team and upholding the high standards that make Springside cheese worth sharing.
What You’ll Do
- Lead daily cheesemaking operations with efficiency, consistency, and care.
- Collaborate on recipes and bring creativity to new flavors and textures.
- Uphold the highest food safety, sanitation, and quality standards — every single batch.
- Conduct tastings and quality checks to ensure every product meets Springside’s reputation for excellence.
- Keep equipment clean, safe, and running smoothly.
- Maintain accurate production records for traceability and compliance.
- Provide guidance, training, and encouragement to your production team — helping them grow in both skill and pride in their work.
- Look for ways to innovate and improve processes without losing the heart of tradition.
What It’s Like Here
Cheesemaking is active, physical work. You’ll be on your feet much of the day, sometimes in warm, noisy environments, and lifting up to 100 lbs. is part of the job. You’ll also work around moving equipment, heat, and other production hazards.
But it’s also rewarding work — you’ll be part of a tight-knit team that takes pride in doing things the right way and appreciates every contribution. At Springside, we don’t just make cheese; we make connections.
Why You’ll Love It
- You’ll be part of a family business with deep roots in Wisconsin tradition.
- You’ll help create award-winning cheeses that customers love and celebrate.
- You’ll work in a culture that values gratitude — for our people, our farmers, and the families who enjoy what we make.
- And most importantly, you’ll play a role in making something that brings people together.
