A fast paced internship that provides direct support to the Construction Management Team in developing accurate, cost-effective plans and schedules through a wide variety of commercial construction and remodel projects. Assists in the coordination and processes of designing and construction of new buildings, renovations, and select major maintenance initiatives. This position will afford on-the-job experience in project documentation, project execution methodology, and quality assurance/quality control (QA/QC).
Major Accountabilities:
• Serves as the Project Manager for the reconciliation of the department drawing library, standardizing filing structures, naming convention, and format.
• Supports the development of standardized forms in accordance with AIA standards, to include: bidding/construction documents, report templates, etc.
• Participates in plan reviews for all new and ongoing projects supporting both domestic and international operations.
• Provides practical experience in initial scope development, phased budget estimation, and project scheduling; Responsible for supporting assigned projects through the creation and distribution of meeting minutes.
• Conducts job walks of active projects and documents field observations regarding safety, constructability, and schedule compliance.
• Attends staff meetings and functions as required.
This position is hourly nonexempt status, which means you are eligible for overtime pay.
• High School diploma or GED required.
• Graduation dates of August 2026 through May 2027 required.
• Able to work 40 hours per week during the Summer required.
• Able and willing to work on-site and in-person at the Valero Headquarters in San Antonio, required.
• Experience using basic AutoCAD required.
• Experience reading design documents required.
• Valid driver’s license preferred.
