In a training situation, operates computed tomography (CT) scanner to produce cross-sectional radiographs of patient's body for diagnostic purposes. Participates in quality assessment and continuous quality improvement activities. Complies with all appropriate safety and infection control standards. Performs all job duties and responsibilities in a courteous and customer-focused manner according to the Hurley Family Standards of Behavior.Works under the overall supervision of the departmental director or designee who reviews work for conformance to established policies, procedures, and standards. May receive medical supervision from the Medical Director of Radiology or designee.
Responsibilities
- Participates in both academic and clniical activities relative to computed tomography.
- Schedules and prepares patient for CT and CT guided/assisted procedures. Images and processes CT studies. Confirms delivery to PACS system.
- Performs CT exams and CT-guided/assisted procedures. Positions patients to best visualize anatomic area of interest. Transports patient to/from department/rooms. Provides and respects ability, comfort, physical, psychological, and educational needs of patients.
- Under authority of physician, administers intravenous media and/or medications. Inserts urethral catheters. Monitors patient. Observes patient for reactions and responds appropriately.
- Promptly and accurately charges for procedures and supplies. Makes necessary entries to department and/or medical center information systems. Documents patient training/education in computer systems.
- Marks and processes images for delivery to PACS system.
- Operates computerized equipment necessary to perform duties.
- Requisitions and maintains adequate inventory of necessary drugs and supplies.
- Assists in cleaning procedure rooms and equipment. Makes simple repairs as required.
- May perform work of Registered Diagnostic Radiological Technologist.
- Demonstrates effective judgment and ability to understand, react effectively and treat (if appropriate) unique needs of patient age groups served.
