BASIC FUNCTION & RESPONSIBILITY: Assist the Director and Coordinator of Bilingual Education with District-wide Emergent Bilingual (EB) documentation, record keeping, and Language Proficiency Assessment Committee (LPAC) processes, procedures, and training; and Title III parental engagement activities as required for emergent bilingual (EBs) students.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education/Certification:
- High school diploma or GED required
- College credit hours preferred
Special Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
- Fluent in English and Spanish (reading, writing, and speaking)
- Strong interpersonal and decision-making skills
- Can work independently and in a team setting
- Attention to detail and organized
- Ability to effectively communicate with district personnel, schools, the community and families
- Keyboarding and computer proficiency
Experience:
- General clerical experience preferred

Major Duties & Responsibilities:
- Support campuses to engage families of EBs.
- Planning district-wide events for families of EBs.
- Connect/collaborate with community stakeholders to promote the vision and mission of the Bilingual Education Department and Bastrop ISD.
- Plan district parental engagement programs/activities to meet the Title 3 requirements:
- Community engagement
- Parent engagement
- Family engagement
- Attend professional development sessions to fulfill LPAC and Title III compliance requirements.
- Provide professional development/clerical support to campus LPAC paraprofessionals.
- Support campus submission of EB documents in Ellevation.
- Collaborate with District and campus registrars to ensure accurate coding of EB students.
- Conduct audits of campus LPAC documents in the student’s cumulative records such as, but not limited to:
- Home Language Survey
- Bilingual/ESL/ Permission Letter(s)
- Language assessments

- Tools/Equipment Used: Standard office equipment including district provided computer, peripherals, printer, calculator, copier, and fax machine
