Job Overview:
We are seeking a passionate and dedicated High School Assistant Theater Director to join our dynamic theater department. As an integral part of our team, you will collaborate with the Theater Director and play a vital role in shaping the theatrical experience for our students. This position offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to the growth and development of young artists while fostering a love for theater within the high school community.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist in Production Planning: Collaborate with the Theater Director in planning and organizing all aspects of theatrical productions, including selecting scripts, coordinating auditions, and developing production schedules.
- Rehearsal Coordination: Assist in conducting rehearsals, ensuring that actors, crew members, and other staff are well-prepared and organized. Provide guidance and support to student actors and crew.
- Set and Costume Design: Contribute to the design and creation of sets, costumes, and props. Collaborate with students and volunteers to bring the artistic vision to life.
- Technical Support: Assist with technical aspects of productions, including lighting, sound, and special effects. Ensure the safe and proper use of theater equipment.
- Teaching and Mentorship: Provide instruction and guidance to students in acting techniques, stagecraft, and theater production. Foster a positive and inclusive learning environment.
- Production Management: Oversee backstage activities during performances, including scene changes, costume changes, and overall production logistics.
- Community Engagement: Promote and engage the school and local community in theater productions through outreach, marketing, and involvement in related events.
- Safety and Compliance: Ensure adherence to safety protocols and guidelines in all theater-related activities. Maintain an organized and safe theater space.
Qualifications:
- Previous experience in theater production, preferably in an educational setting.
- Strong knowledge of theater production techniques and principles.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively with students, staff, and volunteers.
- Creativity, adaptability, and a passion for theater and the arts.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills.
