General Description:
The Extruder Operator Trainee is responsible for the following:
- Assure quality checks, tests, and procedures are carried out as required and follows all SQF requirements.
- Running the extruders efficiently, with very high quality and low waste.
- Keeping extruders and surrounding area in a neat, clean and orderly condition.
- Monitor printed material for print defects during quality checks and report them to supervisor for review.
- Assuring that procedures are carried out.
- Organizing the pre-setup and obtaining materials necessary to start the next order in a timely manner.
- Directing the work and the training of their crew in a safe manner. The Extruder Operator can make suggestions for the additional training of individuals on their crew to the Lead Person or the Floor Supervisor.
- Cross training an individual(s) from a different department to be an Extruder Helper. The Helper can make suggestions for additional training of individuals.
- Communicating all pertinent information to the Extruder Operator on the next crew.
- Understand a work write-up
- follow other duties assigned by Supervisors.
- Complete all training as required.
Knowledge And Skill Requirements:
The Extruder Operator Trainee understands and can perform the following:
- Reads and understand the work write-up.
- Understand the mechanics of the extruders and can properly set-up and run the lines to meet or exceed the requirements of Hood Flexible Packaging and the customer.
- Works effectively with their crew, promoting a team environment.
- Is trained and able to properly conduct required quality checks.
- Must be able to operate extruders while meeting quality and production goals established by management.
- Must demonstrate good troubleshooting skills and high standards for quality.
Minimum Qualifications:
Education: High School or GED
Training: Trade School or On the Job with qualified Extruder Operator.
Experience: On the Job.
Physical Demands: Must be able to lift 50 pounds frequently.
Must be able to stand for long periods of time.
Must possess the manual dexterity to successfully operate various measuring devices.
Vision: Must have normal Color Vision.
