Job Details

Fife Council’s Children & Family Services are looking to recruit Social Work Assistants for our Social Work Contact Centre for Children & Families.

This role is a hybrid working role, telephone based, with the office base being in Fife House, Glenrothes.

The post is focused on duty work, and taking child protection and child concern calls from professionals and members of the public. You will also undertake telephone and IT system based assessments to ascertain the risks and protective factors for referrals into the service, and determine outcomes of these assessments. This will involve multi-agency working and quick rapport building with families, many of whom will be in crisis or distress.

There are also opportunities to provide support to the MARAC, MAPPA, DSDAS and MATAC processes within Fife, as these are undertaken by the team – contributing to safeguarding high risk domestic violence victims and their children.

You will be part of a small, long-standing team where the work is fast-paced. You will need confidence in IT, communication and assessment skills and child protection knowledge and training, including in information sharing.

The successful candidates will be given a formal induction process, including frequent individual and group supervision, team meetings, training, shadowing and observation opportunities.  You will be highly supported and invested in, and Fife Council offers extensive workforce and development.
