Scope of Role

Responsible for the day-to-day Maintenance duties as assigned. Diagnose malfunctions in production machinery and equipment. Installs, repairs, and maintains machinery and equipment, physical structures, plumbing, refrigeration, and electrical systems, in accordance with blueprints, schematic drawings, operations manuals, and manufacturer’s specifications. following drawings, manuals, and blueprints.

Requirements

 Principal Accountabilities

  • Ensures operation of machinery and mechanical equipment by completing preventive maintenance requirements on engines, motors, pneumatic tools, conveyor systems, and production machines; following diagrams, sketches, operations manuals, manufacturer's instructions, and engineering specifications; troubleshooting malfunctions.
  • Locates sources of problems by observing mechanical devices in operation; listening for problems; using precision measuring and testing instruments.
  • Removes defective parts by dismantling devices; using hoists, cranes, and hand and power tools; examining form and texture of parts.
  • Determines changes in dimensional requirements of parts by inspecting used parts, using rules, calipers, micrometers, and other measuring instruments.
  • Adjusts functional parts of devices and control instruments by using hand tools, levels, plumb bobs, and straightedges.
  • Controls downtime by informing production workers of routine preventive maintenance techniques; monitoring compliance.
  • Fabricates repair parts by using machine shop instrumentation and equipment.
  • Conserves maintenance resources by using equipment and supplies as needed to accomplish job results.
  • Provides mechanical maintenance information by answering questions and requests.
  • Prepares mechanical maintenance reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends.
  • Maintains technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing technical publications; establishing personal networks.
  • Maintains continuity among work teams by documenting and communicating actions, irregularities, and continuing needs.
  • Promotes, adheres, and is responsible for Food Safety and Quality.
  • Maintains safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations.
  • Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
  • Ensures all general housekeeping duties are performed, as required, and that supplies are available for such duties.
  • Performs other duties, as assigned. Mediate mechanical/personnel issues that might occur during the shift.

Work Environment 

  • Continuous      standing in one location for long periods (up to 2-3 hours before break);      up to 10-hour shifts
  • Climbing or moving on ladders, steps,      stairwells, walkways, and platforms,
  • Carrying, lifting, lowering, pushing, and      pulling heavy and/or awkward objects or loads. Lifting and lowering of      objects up to 60 lbs. Pushing or pulling of heavy roller carts, bins, or      transport containers up to 80 lbs.
  • A variety of arm and hand movements are      required in applying force, movement, and repetition.
  • May be subject      to reach, kneel, climb, stoop, crouch, crawl, bend, or twist 66% of work      shift.
  • Regular exposure      to cold, hot and or humid conditions
  • Climate extremes found in all areas of      plant operations.
  • Ability      to work in close spaces.
  • Loud      noise environment
