About the Department

Supervises staff performing activities involving building permitting.

Position Duties

• Supervises, directs, and evaluates assigned staff, processing employee concerns and problems, directing work, counseling, disciplining, and completing employee performance appraisals.
• Coordinates daily work activities; organizes, prioritizes, and assigns work; monitors status of work in progress and inspects completed work; confers with assigned staff, assists with complex/problem situations, and provides technical expertise.
• Monitor status of work in progress and assists staff with complex/problem situations.
• Communicates with public on permit related questions.
• Reads and interprets Zoning Maps, Windborne Debris Maps, Impact Fee District Maps, PUD documents, Resolutions, State statutes, Land Development code building plans, Site Development plans, surveys, property cards, legal descriptions, and other documents.
• Determines location of property relative to water and sewer districts, fire districts and impact fee districts; makes setback determinations and reviews and approves surveys.
• Ensures compliance with all applicable codes, laws, rules, regulations, standards, policies, and procedures; ensures adherence to established safety procedures; monitors work environment to ensure safety of employees and other individuals; initiates any actions necessary to correct deviations or violations.
• Consults with supervisor, Division management, or other officials to review operations/activities, review/resolve problems, receive advice/direction, and provide recommendations.
• Monitor inventory of equipment and supplies; ensures availability of adequate materials to conduct work activities; initiates orders for new/replacement materials.
• Performs administrative tasks; develops work schedules to ensure adequate coverage.

ADDITIONAL FUNCTIONS
• Performs other related duties as required.

Minimum Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Three (3) years of related experience.
• Fingerprinting required.

  • Salary offers above the minimum of the pay grade may be considered based on qualifications. 
  • Essential Employees may be required to work during an undeclared emergency and/or declared emergency.  On an incident-by-incident basis, the County’s Administrative Office will make the determination as to who will be required to work.
