Maine Public Employees Retirement System (MainePERS) seeks an Operations and Training Leader to join our Retirement Services team. This position serves the members by ensuring that Retirement Services staff are trained to accurately and efficiently respond to member and retiree requests and provide member education opportunities that are informative and relevant. The Retirement Services Operations & Training Leader is responsible for developing, supporting, and managing the Retirement Services Training and QC Specialists to ensure that training materials are engaging and effective and that knowledge is reinforced beyond initial implementation. The position collaborates with the Retirement Services Business Leaders and Assistant Director to ensure operations, training, and QA efforts are aligned with department needs and objectives for both new and existing staff. The particular focus of this position is to ensure departmental policies and procedures are current and new initiatives are implemented according to a plan developed collaboratively between the Retirement Services Business Leaders with oversight from the Assistant Director. The RS Operations and Training Leader collaborates cross-departmentally to ensure law, rule, and practice changes are aligned during implementation. As a key driver of departmental and organizational growth, this position serves as a leader in change, championing new initiatives, improving processes, and fostering a culture of continuous learning and adaptability.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Associates degree in a relevant field with at least five (5) years of progressive experience; –OR– any equivalent combination of relevant education and experience.
- At least five (5) years of experience in a supervisory or leadership role
- Experience creating a supportive and inclusive atmosphere that encourages learning and growth
- Demonstrated understanding of learning styles and how they can be applied to training delivery and/or design
- Proficient in MS Office suite
- Ability to travel within the state; valid driver’s license and maintenance of a good driving record.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Five (5) years of experience as a subject matter expert
- Bachelor’s degree
- Experience designing, developing, and delivering training tailored to adult learners with diverse learning styles
- Experience building and developing teams
- Experience managing teams through formal change or project management principals
Salary: Begins at $85,051 if annualized with excellent benefits.
