General Description of the Position:
Rope access TSA/HVTS technicians are responsible for IGS TSNA (Thermal Spray North-America) product application with a goal of meeting all contractual quality requirements agreed upon between IGS and the customer. The position supports IGS strategic growth objectives through execution of quality projects. Technicians provide information to the Team Leader on all matters related to safety, timeline, and application of IGS products. They are accountable for knowing and adhering to the health, safety, environmental, quality programs and policies of IGS. Participation and satisfactory completion of assigned training is required.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Maintain and use company supplied Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
- Comply with IGS and site-specific safety protocols/ equipment safe operating practices
- Initiate effective, continuous QC communication with attention to defect notification, understanding personal work scope and requesting clarification when uncertainties arise
- Complete housekeeping tasks such as collection and disposal of packaging and trash
- Adhere to all designated travel arrangements to ensure planned arrival at project site
- Maintain a valid driver’s license to operate company or rental vehicles
- Pass all necessary training provided by IGS and customer’s requirements
- Perform tasks at elevation utilizing rope access techniques in accordance with IRATA/SPRAT guidelines.
- Participate in job hazard assessments and provide input related to access risks and mitigation.
- Maintain rope access logs, pre-use inspections, and PPE inventories.
- Assist in the installation and inspection of rigging systems, including anchor points and load-bearing setups.
- Execute HVAS prep, sandblasting, and coating applications from rope where scaffolding or traditional means are not viable.
- Collaborate with QC and Safety teams to ensure safe and compliant work execution.
- Serve as a safety standby for other rope access workers as necessary.
Skills and Abilities Required:
- Capable of lifting a minimum of 50 lb. multiple times throughout each shift
- Working 12 hour shifts for extended periods in excess of 7 days straight - day or night shifts
- Capable of wearing a full-face respirator while performing the work
- Capable of working in confined spaces and tight areas
- Ability to work at heights greater than 5 feet and on scaffolding
- Ability to work in extreme temperatures - hot and cold
- Capable of traveling for 4-6 weeks at a time domestically and internationally
- Ability to coordinate several tasks simultaneously, prioritize and handle unexpected situations
- Ability to understand and comply with all IGS Programs and Procedures: I.E., Safety, Alcohol and Drug Free Workplace, and client specific policies, procedures and regulations.
- IRATA Level 1+ or SPRAT Level I+ certification (current and valid) is strongly preferred
- Proven experience with sandblasting, HVAS, or TSA is strongly preferred.
- Must meet medical, background, and training requirements for industrial site access.
- Valid driver’s license and passport with flexibility for domestic and international travel.
- Ability to understand and comply with all IGS Programs and Procedures: I.E., Safety, Alcohol and Drug Free Workplace, and client specific policies, procedures and regulations
- Ability to meet customer pre-access requirements such as occupational health examinations, training requirements, drug screens, background searches, etc.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a valid driver’s license and passport
Travel
- Must be willing and able to travel 1 – 4 weeks at any given time.
- Ability to obtain Passport and travel internationally.
Contacts:
- Frequent contact with onsite leadership, office, and field service personnel
- Occasional contact with customers

Effort/Working Conditions:
- High physical effort and high level of physical exertion is required for this position
- Job is performed in a challenging environment in various client facilities which includes but are not limited to refineries, paper mills and power plants in both the USA and International locations
- The work environment is typically dusty due to the nature of materials handled. Must be comfortable working in such conditions and wear personal protective equipment as required
Work is generally performed in a confined space with extreme temperature variations
- Regular attendance is essential for satisfactory performance in this position, reliability is required
- Great flexibility is required including the working of overtime to meet seasonal or other peak workload demands
- Moderate to high degree of danger associated with the job
Education and Experience Required
- Industrial or Field Service experience preferred (power plants, petrochemical, oil and gas, mining, commercial, concrete, sandblasting, hydro-blasting, coating application, painting, or manufacturing environments)
- High School Diploma or equivalent
