Job title: Women’s Economic Equality Practitioner (Community Builder) 

Salary: circa £28,000 per annum

Location: Plymouth

Contract/Hours: Fixed Term Contract for 12 months – Part-time – 20 hours per week

About the Service

In collaboration with by Plymouth City Council and NHS Devon, our Women’s Economic Equality Practitioner role is focused on creating and developing a variety of opportunities for community engagement, connecting and volunteering.

The role has a particular focus on Women’s Economic Inequality, with the intention of gaining a better understanding of women’s experiences around skills development, childcare, family health and how this impacts women around the theme of employment to inform city plans/strategies.

 

Work will take place alongside the Wellbeing and Family Hub Network, the voluntary and community sector and other partners to promote local co-operative ways of working to identify, develop and link provision within identified areas of the city. 

This is a fixed term role which will be integral to the Family Hub network and involve working in partnership with children, young people and families, as well as other organisations to help people achieve the best possible outcomes.

 

You’ll work from Manor Street Family Hub and Stonehouse, as well as Green Ark Family Hub and the wider city area as needed. 

 

This role will incorporate some planned evening and/or weekend working. 

 

How you’ll create brighter futures

Taking an asset-based community development approach, you’ll engage with women to develop peer led support networks and initiatives that will address barriers and share their experiences and their employment challenges in Plymouth – with a particular focus on women living within disadvantaged neighbourhoods.   

Let’s talk about you

  • Relevant experience of working with children, young people, families and communities. 
  • Successful experience of consultation, participation and evaluation and/or a passion for community development and empowerment
  • Experience of working in partnership in a multi-agency environment. 
  • Good communication and people skills 
  • Ability to work within deadlines. 
  • Good understanding of Office 365. 
  • Demonstrable understanding of diversity policies and non-judgemental approaches within the workplace and when engaging in community work 
  • Good understanding of safeguarding and experience of working within established policies and procedures 
  • Awareness of confidentiality and data protection.
