JOB TITLE:

Machinist I 

REPORTS TO: 

Production Supervisor  

SUMMARY OF FUNCTIONS:

With oversight from the Production Supervisor or Senior Machinist, the Machinist I must be capable of setting up and machining parts using fixtures and/or CNC machining centers by following the written directions provided as part of the job.  At times, the Machinist I may work with a Molding Technician to increase the throughput of equipment.   The Machinist I is expected to direct the activities of the Molding Technician and ensure that they are working to the job requirements as it pertains to the compression molds.

MAJOR DUTIES AND REQUIREMENTS:

  • Follow instructions and work under close supervision to complete the allocated tasks
  • With oversight, set up and operate machines for advanced composite materials and metals.
  • Escalates equipment and production issues by notifying the Supervisor or Senior Machinist
  • Responsible for the completeness and accuracy of all work being done at their work cell
  • Understand how to check for defects
  • Review and understand the quality process and identify quality issues with senior Machinist oversight
  • Follow safety procedures for PPE (personal protection equipment)
  • Dispose of hazmat waste in the proper area
  • Maintain a clean working environment
  • Perform all duties in compliance with regulatory and company requirements
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Supervisor or Senior Machinist

EXPERIENCE AND/OR EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:

  • Minimum of high school diploma or equivalent
  • 0 to 1 year of experience working with composites or machining
  • Strong mechanical aptitude
  • Strong math skills and basic computer skills required
  • Ability to convert weight and length units of measure
  • Ability to use a caliper and micrometer
  • Must be able to follow written and verbal instructions for machine operation
  • Must be able to communicate clearly (written and verbally) in English
  • Able to work and communicate with a team
  • Maintain work areas in a neat, orderly, and safe manner
  • Must be capable of lifting up to 55 lbs
  • Excellent attendance; ability to work overtime, weekends and off shifts when needed

SALARY RANGE: $25.00 - $38.39/hr DOE
