Position Summary:

As Senior Director, Marketing for the Puppet product line, you will be responsible for defining the global marketing strategy to support the business unit’s growth and financial objectives. The Sr. Director of Marketing reports directly to the VP of BU Marketing with a strong dotted line to the General Manager for Puppet.

This includes acting as a strategic partner to the General Manager, Product Leader, and Sales Leader on cross-functional initiatives—ensuring consistent communication flow and alignment across teams to drive business success. Together, the business unit leadership team defines the business and go-to-market strategy required to hit the BU’s growth and financial objectives. The Marketing leader is then responsible for defining and delivering on the marketing mix required to support the business objectives. 

The Sr. Director of Marketing for Puppet manages a dedicated Marketing team that includes specialization in Product Marketing, Content Strategy, Field Marketing, and Marketing Campaign Strategy. You will work with your team to propose detailed campaign plans for your product line, define and manage budgets that fall within a target customer acquisition cost, prepare marketing-driven pipeline, bookings and lead funnel performance forecasts and reporting against actuals, and ensure successful execution of Marketing tactics that achieve the desired results. As the Marketing leader, you set the pace and tone for the team on accountability, communication, and transparency. 

The ideal candidate will have 10-15 years of experience in Marketing and/or management roles. 


Responsibilities:
  • Team with BU leadership to translate business objectives into go-to-market strategy; understanding the sales and marketing motion required to capture new business from target markets/target buyers. 
  • Shape and lead the overall vision, strategy, and operations of the Puppet Marketing team
  • Develop respectful and trusting relationships with cross-functional leadership including Product, Sales, Customer Success, and Support.
  • Effectively present Marketing initiatives, results, and impact to Executive team, effectively advocate for new initiatives, strategic directional changes, budget and/or resources.  
  • Prioritize and support Sales initiatives with enablement & collateral, regional campaigns & events, and other field marketing.
  • Complete mastery and understanding of our markets, competitive landscape, and how we win. Use insight to inform, provide direction and feedback to PMM and Content Marketing teams.  
  • Ensure business unit and shared services marketing teams continue to evolve and adopt marketing best practices to support company growth. 
  • Engage directly with customers and partners to enhance the strategy. 


  • Requirements:
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrated success in leading high-performing marketing teams.
  • Experience in Dev Ops/Software industry desired
  • Ability to listen and uncover insights, as well as influence and engage different audiences. 
  • Data-driven and results-oriented. Willingness to change direction based on new findings. 
  • Experience reporting on and optimizing lead lifecycle metrics, pipeline, and conversion rates. 
  • Exceptional operational skills, as well as ability to work strategically. 
  • Highly organized individual, able to multitask, and manage demanding projects and deadlines.
