Our products can be used in a wide variety of industries, such as the automotive and office chair manufacturing industries, furniture technology, solar industry, medical technology, and many other industrial applications. This position will be located in our U.S. Headquarters in Gastonia, NC.
Job Summary:
The Hahn West Operator will carry out production processes to produce gas springs
Safely operates equipment to complete the department processes, review stock springs for quality and gas filling standard springs to order level. Testing gas forces, relabeling and reinspecting gas springs to meet engineering specification. Maintain overall department efficiency and housekeeping.
Maintains safety of work area and machinery; ensuring that the machinery is serviced and kept in good working order. Maintain database of jobs completed and shipped, and proper QAP filing.
Currently, we have multiple openings on our 3rd shift which runs from 11:00 p.m. – 7:00 a.m. Applicants should have some flexibility to accommodate changes in the schedule based on company needs.
Main Tasks
- Executes the production efforts of the department to meet production scheduling and any special requests of production supervisors, including rush orders.
- Notifies other departments of regular and special materials needed.
- Monitors department equipment to assure proper operations and informs supervisors of any maintenance needs.
- Records daily production for the department.
- Complete ASN transactions, shipping bill of lading and maintain files of completed shipments daily.
- Oversees all processes in the department to assure quality and quantity standards are maintained in each procedure.
- Performs scheduled quality checks on each process and records quality findings. Visually inspects parts and removes defective ones.
- Uses such test equipment as finish gage, audit tester, dial caliper, and thickness gage, vernier caliper, oil scale, concentricity gage, rivet height indicator.
- Makes adjustments needed to maintain product within established quality standards.
- Ensures that work area housekeeping is well-maintained.
- Pump-up stock springs to a required force and ship to customers within a 5-day turnaround maximum.
- Advises supervisors of status of production and related department information.
Secondary Tasks
- Advises supervisor of status of production and related department information.
- Assist Sales Department by answering questions regarding order status. Exercise data integrity through SAP and database transactions.
- Performs other duties as requested by the supervisor.
Education, Training, Certifications
- High school diploma or equivalent.
Experience
- 1-3 years in related position in manufacturing environment.
Job Knowledge and Skills
- Must have good communication skills and be able to work independently.
- Must be willing to cross-train to learn all of the work that needs to be done in the department.
- Must be familiar with the various company products, terminology, identification of parts, and company quality standards.
- Must be skilled in the use of quality test equipment.
- Must be able to read and interpret engineering design sheets.
- Must be able to perform basic math functions and be skilled in the use of basic hand tools and measuring devices.
- Problem solving skills are a must.
Accountability / Impact of Errors
Responsibility for Equipment
- Responsible for overseeing the safe and correct operation of all equipment in the department. Improper use could cause damages to more sensitive equipment. Sets up and monitors the operation of equipment where visual inspections, frequent quality inspections and chemical tests would detect most errors in equipment set ups or malfunctions.
Responsibility for Material or Product
- Responsibility for maintaining the quality and quantity of production in the department. Mistakes would probably be detected during quality inspection although potential for material damage exists.
Working Conditions
- Exposed to normal metal fabrication environment with noise, metal chips, and cutting fluids present but not normally to a disagreeable extent.
- Some exposures to chemicals on the paint line, but not to a disagreeable extent.
- Moderate physical effort required frequently lifting and moving average weight material.
- Occasional lifting and placement of heavy tooling, sometimes in difficult work positions.
- Accidents unlikely to occur outside minor injury although some potential exits for injury during machine set up.
