Responsibilities:

  • Actively participate in the development of terminal objectives and the facility budgetary process.
  • Effectively monitor production, maintenance, purchasing, labor, sales, and environmental and safety activities.
  • Ensure terminal production objectives are achieved and consistent with environmental, safety and quality standards/requirements.
  • Ensure operating costs are consistent with budgetary constraints.
  • Advise senior management of progress toward meeting objectives and, when necessary, develop strategies for necessary adjustments.
  • Implement and maintain terminal level processes, procedures and standards in compliance with regulatory permits as well as corporate safety policies.
  • Develop and instruct terminal contract labor workforce.
  • Effectively communicate and collaborate with a wide range of authority levels, both inside and outside the organization.
  • Serve as facility representative related to commercial, regulatory, development efforts and others as required.
  • Recognize and promote ideas that provide safer, more efficient and cost-effective operation.
  • Extensive interface with NGOs and the public.
  • Other functions as assigned by the Director.

Qualifications

  • BS degree in management, engineering or closely related field.
  • 5+ of management experience in an industrial setting.
  • Experience in the marine, bulk materials handling industry is preferred.
  • Strong mechanical experience preferred.
  • Experience with 3PL/contracted/organized labor.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Suite as well as other applications.
  • Must be able to analyze financial and cost data and develop conclusions and recommendations.
  • Ability to work independently with limited supervision.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
  • Ability to work safely and direct the maintenance department to work safely, with an emphasis on following procedures and best management practices.
  • Must be a problem solver with the ability to find resolutions.
