Position Description:
Working at our Rocketship Nashville Northeast Elementary (RNNE) campus, the Humanities Instructional Coach will provide direct instructional coaching to all Humanities Teachers on the campus. This role will also be responsible for creating and delivering professional development to Rocketship staff and for facilitating weekly data analysis meetings with each  grade level they manage as well as provide consultation and coaching to school leaders, teachers and families regarding effective instructional practices for early literacy.This position requires previous teaching experience and experience working with data-driven academic assessment tools. It requires deep content expertise in the humanities and reading instruction. commitment to serving students and educators and a desire to think critically and creatively about how to support the campus’ academic needs. 

The salary for this role starts at $80,750.





Essential Functions:
  • Duties will include, but not be limited to: 
  • Provide job-embedded coaching for humanities teachers and instructional support staff (as appropriate) based in evidence-based literacy instruction, including lesson planning, modeling, classroom environment, and instructional practices with observations and feedback.
  • Lead training and ongoing professional development for humanities teachers focused on the humanities, reading instruction, early literacy foundations, and differentiated instruction.
  • Analyze and monitor student progress monitoring data and adjust any small group and/or intervention programming as needed. 
  • Collaborate with school leaders and grade-level teams to promote humanities and reading best practices.
  • Collaborate with and be a part of any coordinated meetings (IEP meetings, SST meetings, MTSS meetings for students in grades K-2).
  • Communicate with parents, as necessary, regarding student needs and any adaptations/materials needed to facilitate improved performance at home.
  • Maintain relationships and effectively communicate with the other school leaders, teachers, and families in all facets of the position.
  • Participate in school leader walkthroughs and regular observations with school, network, and/or regional staff. 
  • Maintain a close working relationship with other members of the Network Support Program Team (NeST—Rocketship’s centralized office that operates in support of its schools and regions) to ensure exchange of best practices, coordination of efforts, and general support for humanities teachers.
  • Develop and provide resources to the school community in regards to supporting a student’s academic growth and development.
  • Ensure at least 1.5 years of progress for all Rocketeers annually through coaching and planning.
  • Teaching: Coaches will at times be required to step in and teach to either model for teachers, provide assistance to teachers or the school community, or to more deeply internalize the school model. Additionally, as part of onboarding, all new Rocketship Coaches will be expected to teach for three or more weeks to learn the curriculum and model.

  • 3+ years of experience teaching in an urban city classroom and realizing significant gains.

  • Education Requirements
  • BA from Accredited University
  • Valid Teaching Credential Preferred
  • Willingness to Obtain Teaching Credential
