About the Department

The Town of Breckenridge is seeking a qualified and dedicated individual for the position of Fleet Mechanic. This role is responsible for a wide range of duties within the Fleet Division, including maintaining service records, handling divisional purchasing, and performing repairs and maintenance on all systems for Town-owned vehicles and equipment. This includes passenger cars, SUVs, pickups, heavy equipment such as loaders and graders, trucks ranging from Class 3 to Class 8, transit buses, and alternative-fueled vehicles. Fleet Mechanics also maintain shop tools and complete various welding, design, and fabrication projects.

Minimum Qualifications
MINIMUM & DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Must be 18 years of age or older.
- High School diploma or equivalent required.
- A minimum of one (1) year of job-related experience in the repair and maintenance of motorized vehicles and mechanical equipment required.
- Must be able to speak the English language sufficiently to converse with the general public and understand highway traffic signs and signals in English.
- Demonstrated evidence of continued advancement in technical knowledge and skills required.
- Must successfully pass all pre-employment drug and alcohol testing prior to confirmation of hire.
- Valid CDL with Class B, P2 Endorsement required within 60 days of hire.
- Valid Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations (FMCSR) Medical Examiners Certificate required within 60 days of hire.
- Qualified Annual Vehicle Inspector certification required 90 days of hire.
- Underground Storage Tank Operator Certification required within 12 months of hire or as needed to meet organizational needs.
- Motor Vehicle Air Conditioning Certification Section 608 and 609 required within 12 months of hire or as needed to meet organizational needs.
Other Qualifications
Hiring Pay Range: $30.50 - $36.25 per hour, $63,440.00 - $75,395.00 if annualized.
Full Pay Range: $30.50 - $42.00 per hour, $63,440.00 - $87,350.00 if annualized.
WORK SCHEDULE
Anticipated schedule generally consists of four (4) 10-hour, daytime shifts. Generally the summer seasonal operational schedule consists of weekdays only and winter seasonal operational schedule requires one (1) weekend day shift. Individuals in this position may on occasion be required to work other shifts as needed including, days, nights, weekends, holidays, on-call, extended shifts, and overtime as needed due to urgent priorities or as scheduled.
