JOB TITLE: Master Aesthetician
REPORTS TO: Executive Director/Clinic Manager
FLSA STATUS: Non – Exempt
JOB OVERVIEW: Provides aesthetic services under the supervision and direction of provider; includes suggested skin care products and treatments that will enhance patients overall outcome; training and education to patients regarding skin care.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:
- Under the supervision of physician and within the scope of training and credentialing, applies expert ability to utilize skin care equipment, tools, and professional products.
- Identifies and determines patient skin care needs. Discusses recommendations with physician.
- Performs all phases of skin care in a timely manner.
- Performs chemical exfoliation, microdermabrasion, makeup application, waxing, and laser services under the supervision of a physician.
- Will act as the Laser Safety Officer, to include coordination of laser preventative maintenance, safety requirements, and quality assurance.
- Provides training and education to patients on the treatment and care of their skin.
- Under the direction of the Dermatology and Facial Plastics healthcare professionals and in collaboration with the materials department, maintains inventory of skin care products appropriate for the needs of the practice.
- Maintain a record of physical findings confidentially, accurately, and timely.
- Responsible for patient photography.
- Promote product and service sales.
- Maintain product inventory.
- Keep up to date on new skin care products and treatments.
- Educate patients on how to care for their skin before and after surgery.
ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Maintain work areas, exam rooms, supplies, medications and equipment.
- Maintain compliance with infection control protocols.
- Maintain a professional manner regarding confidential records with patients, families and other service providers.
- Maintain professional appearance and personal conduct at all times.
- Works closely with site manager and physicians with respect to hours, efficient patient flow and appropriate use of provider resources.
- Document work processes as required.
- Must be able to recognize and respond appropriately to urgent/emergent situations per protocols.
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships with physicians, staff and management.
- May process phone messages and provide follow-up to patients.
- Keep regular clinic hours as approved by Manager.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Graduate of an accredited Aesthetician Program.
- Advanced training preferred (including medical aesthetics and/or LPN), but is not required.
Certifications/Licensure:
- Maintain current Washington State Master Aesthetician license.
- Laser certification is preferred, but is not required.
- Maintain current CPR certification for Health Care Providers.
Experience:
- At least three months paid work experience in a Dermatology, Facial Plastic Surgery, and/or Aesthetic practice/environment is preferred, but is not required.
- One year paid work experience in a medical setting is preferred, but is not required.
Skills:
- Ability to work independently and/or collaboratively on an interdisciplinary team to provide aesthetical care to achieve optimal outcomes for the patient.
- Ability to adapt procedures to suit the age and expectations of the patient.
- Thorough knowledge of the anatomy and physiology of the skin.
- Skin manipulation including exfoliation techniques.
- Strong organizational and interpersonal skills.
- Knowledge of CPT and ICD-10 coding procedures.
- Working knowledge of computer programs.

- Must be able to act calmly and effectively in a busy or stressful situation.
- Ability to communicate effectively in the English language in person, by phone and in writing.
- Requires adherence to all policies and procedures, including but not limited to standards for safety, attendance, punctuality and personal appearance.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with physicians, management and peers.
Physical Requirements:
Hearing: Adequate to perform job duties in person and over the telephone.
Speaking: Must be able to communicate clearly to patients and coworkers in person and over the telephone.
Vision: Visual acuity adequate to perform job duties, including visual examination of patient and reading information from printed sources and computer screens.
Other: The position is mostly sitting, standing and walking throughout the day with occasional bending and reaching. Requires frequent lifting and carrying of items weighing less than 10 pounds. Involves potential exposure to communicable diseases, bodily fluids, medicinal preparations and other conditions common in a clinical environment.

The hourly salary range for this position is $26.00 to $39.00. The hourly salary range is an estimate and the actual salary will vary based on the applicant's education, training, experience, licensure/certifications, as well as internal equity and alignment with local market data. At The Doctors Clinic, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for their role and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case.
