Irving Shipbuilding is seeking a detail-oriented and driven Procurement Specialist to join our dynamic team supporting the Arctic and Offshore Patrol Ship (AOPS) program. In this role, you will be responsible for managing the full lifecycle of procurement activities for complex material packages and systems. You’ll play a key part in developing sourcing strategies, coordinating with internal stakeholders, engaging suppliers, and driving contract execution and performance.
This is a high-impact role where your ability to manage timelines, negotiate effectively, and contribute to continuous improvement will directly support the success of one of Canada’s most important naval programs.
Responsibilities
- Lead and support procurement activities from strategy development to contract execution
- Develop and improve supplier performance in quality, cost, and delivery
- Issue purchase orders and execute contract amendments
- Conduct supplier negotiations and performance reviews
- Analyze market conditions including pricing, availability, and lead times
- Prepare executive summaries and commercial recommendations
- Collaborate across teams to meet critical deadlines and peak demand periods
- Support new product introduction and apply continuous improvement principles
- Utilize ERP/MRP systems to manage procurement processes
- Provide guidance on contractual claims and risk mitigation
Qualifications
- Post-secondary education in a relevant discipline preferred
- 2–5 years of procurement experience in Aerospace, Shipbuilding, Automotive, Construction, Heavy Manufacturing, or Defence
- Strong understanding of end-to-end supply chain and procurement processes
- Demonstrated ability to manage procurement tasks independently
- Experience in supplier negotiations and contract execution
- Proficiency in ERP/MRP systems and data-driven decision-making
- Excellent communication, project management, and stakeholder coordination skills
Due to the nature of work Irving Shipbuilding does, all successful applicants must meet requirements for the Canadian Controlled Goods Program (CGP), Canadian Government Security clearance, and U.S. International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR).
Please note this position requires a full-time, in-office presence.
