Responsibilities:
- Support other apprentices, machinists, and lead machinists on various projects
- Follow instructions from foreman and supervisors to ensure tasks are completed efficiently
- Keep the job site clean and well-organized
- Handle the loading and unloading materials, tools, and equipment
- Ensure attention to detail and follow safety standards
- Fuel and wash department vehicles
Requirements:
- Mechanically inclined with common hand tools (tape measure, hand and power tools, saw, etc.)
- Basic math and geometry
- Preventative maintenance of equipment
- Clean, lubricate, or adjust parts, equipment, or machinery
- Operation of equipment (Manual lathe, saw, drill press, etc.)
- With assistance determine reference points, machine cutting paths, or hole locations, and compute angular and linear dimensions, radii, and curvatures
- With assistance determine the sequence of machine operations, and select the proper cutting tools needed to machine workpieces into the desired shapes
- With assistance calculate dimensions or tolerances or machining components
- With assistance learning machine set-ups, adjusting speeds, feeds, and depth of cut, to machines parts to specifications set forth in designs, engineering orders, etc.
- Blueprint reading
- Lock-out Tag-out
- Ability to work effectively with all personality types
- Ability to understand and carry out verbal and written instructions
- Self-directed and can work independently
- Valid Driver’s License
Preferred Requirements:
- Attaching rigging to a load based upon a pre-planned rigging method
- Set up and/or operate machines
- Chauffeurs License & DOT Med Card
Equipment experience:
- Forklift Operation – Material handling up to 5000# (Preferred)
- Trailer loading and securing of material & equipment
- Precision measuring equipment (ID/OD micrometers, calipers, dial indicators)
- Overhead crane certified & qualified (NCCER/NCCCO- Preferred)
- Manual Bridgeport (Preferred)
- Drill press
- Grinders
- Saws
- Ability to run CNC equipment (Preferred)
- Mastercam (Preferred)
- Veri surf (Preferred)
- Faro arm (Preferred)
Tool experience:
- Standard industrial tools (Pliers, wrenches, drills, etc.)
- Hytorc
- Mag drill
- Hydraulic jacks
Rigging Requirements:
- Must be able to ascend/descend ladders, scaffolds, stairs, and/or operate scissor/boom lifts while working at height.
- Work in permit & non-permit required confined spaces and in proximity to loud equipment Utilize and understand the constraints of chains, synthetic, metal mesh, and wire rope slings.
- Use & recognize rigging hardware including hooks, shackles, wire rope clips, clamps, eye bolts, softeners and tag lines
- Identifies common load configurations & positioning
- Rigger 1 training – trains on above
Physical Requirements:
- Must be able to ascend/descend ladders, scaffolds, stairs, and/or operate scissor/boom lifts while working at height.
- Work in permit & non-permit required confined spaces and in proximity to loud equipment.
- Must be able to lift and carry or otherwise move up to 50 pounds regularly/occasionally
- Must be able to respond quickly to auditory alarms, visual signals, or other effective means to communicate hazards
- Must be able to move safely over uneven terrain or in confined spaces.
- Must be able to work in cold/hot environments.
- Must be able to traverse irregular and steep terrain.
