Position Summary
The Senior Director of Donation Services oversees and provides direction and leadership in BioTissue’s critical Donation Services activities, including business development and oversight of the Sharing Miracles donation program. They oversee all tissue acquisition activities and sites as well as donor eligibility determination functions, ensuring adherence to FDA and AATB standards and donor outreach and
professional and public education to increase donation rates and honor the gift of tissue through increased visibility and communication at both a local and national level. They will oversee all marketing and external communication related to donation services establishing credibility and best practices in aftercare.
The Senior Director of Donation Services will provide feedback as part of the Leadership Team and to the Board of Directors as requested regarding financial performance, operational efficiency, market positioning, risk management and program effectiveness to enable informed decision making.
In addition, the Senior Director of Donation Services will engage in donor development activities, including establishment and management of direct acquisition sites, exclusive strategic partnerships and development of donor allocation partnerships to maximize tissue utilization and positively impact company’s long-term goals. They will interact with C-Suite Executives to build and foster relationships and communicate key performance indicators. They will identify and implement revenue generating
opportunities through allocation of tissue outside the company or provision of acquisition support services to third parties. They will support BioTissue’s commercial efforts, providing presentations to physicians, investors and key opinion leaders on the Sharing Miracles donation program.
The Senior Director of Donation Services will support and maintain BioTissue’s accreditation with the American Association of Tissue Banks and oversee BioTissue’s Medical Advisory Committee, Associate Medical Directors, Independent Contractors and Exclusionary Criteria.
The Senior Director of Donation Services is the primary contact within BioTissue for issues involving forecasts, procurement related contracts and functions as a subject matter expert that represents BioTissue’s interests in industry and trade groups and is responsible for managing internal resources. This includes, identifying target collection sites, developing support facilities, expansion of the Sharing Miracles program both inside and outside the Miami service area, hiring staff and managing performance of those teams.The Senior Director of Donation Services will serve as the Chair of all Joint Steering Committees with exclusive partners to drive scale, build relationships, maintain control and optimize process efficiencies as well as serve as the Senior Administrator on Call to support all tissue acquisition activities for Sharing Miracles.
The incumbent will drive Partner and Community Development, including outreach and public education to support donation awareness and visibility to the Sharing Miracles/BioTissue brand within the local community and on a national level through industry membership, committee representation, council leadership and partnership with Donate Life America. They will direct the marketing activities for Sharing Miracles, including social media, website design and management, development of creative resources, and provision of all Donor Aftercare Services, including donor testimonials and facilitating communication to and from donor mothers.
The Senior Director of Donation Services works to increase birth tissue transplantation opportunities by ensuring a strategic network of human birth tissue is available to meet BioTissue’s current and future manufacturing needs, research and development needs, and support for ongoing and future clinical trials.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Develop and execute a rolling 5-year strategic plan to provide both a supply of human birth tissue capable of meeting BioTissue’s current and future manufacturing needs as well as allocation of tissue outside the organization.
- Understand market dynamics of birth tissue to ensure that BioTissue is competitive in evolving market situations, negotiating long term supply agreements.
- Ensures the safety and quality of donated tissues for transplantation and research often collaborating with donor mothers, healthcare providers, internal stakeholders and regulatory agencies.
- Develops and negotiates contracts in conjunction with legal to secure long term access to birth tissue supply and both relationships for tissue optimization.
- Hire, train and manage leadership and staff, including facilities to support acquisition operations while maintaining a motivated and competent workforce. Staff members may be geographically dispersed across the United States in addition to locally.
- Project management of breakthrough teams to promote cross functional collaboration, increase operational efficiencies and expand program and company initiatives.
- Prepares and delivers presentations to a wide variety of audiences detailing the benefits of donating birth tissue and the societal advantages associated with the altruistic gift of donation while promoting industry best practices and support of BioTissue commercial initiatives.
- Review and oversee training for new and existing employees to ensure compliance with all industry standards and FDA requirements.
- Develops the annual budgets and tissue forecasts for respective business segments and manages performance against those targets, providing adequate safety stock while ensuring financial sustainability, managing resources and costs associated with operations.
- Creates and executes programs, reports, presentations, abstracts and content as necessary to represent BioTissue in meetings with third party tissue recovery organizations, hospitals/health care networks, professional organizations such as AATB, EBAA and obstetric professionals to gain access to tissue resources.
- Reviews and oversees quality performance metrics and quality control systems within tissue procurement and ensures accountability internally and across exclusive partnerships to maintain the safety and efficacy of donated tissue.
- Identifies, executes and manages electronic donor records and patient confidentiality through the oversight of BioTissue’s electronic donor management system and compliance to HIPAA and information sharing requirements.
- Oversee the development and execution of the Sharing Miracles website, social media platforms and all printed and web-based resources.
- Drives public awareness initiatives related to birth tissue donation to increase donation rates and ensure credibility of birth tissue donations for transplantation, research and educational purposes.
- Provides services to honor donor mothers, deepen donor relationships and advocate for the gift of birth tissue donation. Facilitates testimonials and communication channels to drive awareness and altruism.
- Operates with the highest level of integrity and ethical performance to navigate ethical issues related to birth tissue donation, including informed consent and donor communication. Maintains a focus on details and expects the same from internal and external colleagues.

Position Expertise/Qualifications
- Requires 10+ years of related Tissue Banking experience
- Requires 5+ years of related GMP, GTP, ISO or Quality System experience
- Requires Experience in Aseptic Technique, Surgical Gowning/Gloving
- Bachelor’s Degree Required
- Current CTBS Certification
Physical Requirements
- Sedentary work that generally requires sitting and/or standing
- The incumbent is expected to be present at BioTissue locations, where needed.
- May require domestic travel up to 60% of the time.
