Job Summary
Course Coaches (Coach) are responsible for the delivery of educational materials by utilizing sound educational practices focused on the successful academic development of each student.The Course Coach supports students in their preparation for industry-recognized certification exams in Medical Assisting (CCMA), Medical Billing and Coding (CBCS), Electronic Health Records (CEHRS) and Pharmacy Technician (ExCPT). This position is designed to deliver high-impact, focused instruction through scheduled live review sessions, helping students build the confidence, knowledge, and test-taking strategies necessary to succeed on certification exams. Coaches promote an educational environment that is engaging, dynamic, and student-centered, additionally providing support, tutoring, and other assistance as needed. Coaches lead by example and model professional behavior centered on ethical conduct, focusing on Ancora's Vision, Mission, and Core Values.
Key Responsibilities
Design and deliver certification exam prep boot camps for Medical Assisting, MBC, HIT, and Pharmacy Tech, aligned to national certification standards as offered by NHA
Review core content areas, practice questions, and testing strategies in a structured, engaging format.
Provide one-on-one or small group coaching as needed for students requiring additional support.
Use diagnostic assessments and mock exams to identify areas of weakness and tailor instruction accordingly.
Track student attendance, progress, and performance during boot camps and submit timely reports to the Director of Academics and/or Program Director.
Encourage student motivation and resilience through consistent communication, goal-setting, and positive reinforcement.
Stay current on exam updates, certification requirements, and test blueprints for all applicable certifications
Guarantee students have been presented with the material to successfully meet the learning objectives of each course
Ensure that instructional course materials are ready for student use.
Participate in ongoing coach assessment and professional development activities to ensure an active, engaged, and up-to-date classroom experience for all students.
Flexible; may include evening or weekend sessions depending on student need
One review session per week, with established rotation to address CBCS, CCMA, CEHRS, CPhT each month
Review sessions will be held in intensive formats in blocks of 90-120 minutes
Additional support (max 8 hours per week) provided to students as needed for support with registration, additional questions, etc.
Ensure compliance with all regulatory bodies’ guidelines
Comply with Ancora's policies and procedures.
Other duties as assigned.
Experience Required
Certification in one or more of the following: CCMA, RMA, CBCS, CEHRS, CPC, CPhT, RHIA, RHIT, RPh, or PharmD
Master’s degree or higher
Minimum of 4 years’ experience in the allied health field
Solid computer software skills, such as Google suite applications;
Strong written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills with demonstrated success in collaborating with diverse groups of employees and customers;
Ability to work in an observation/coaching style environment;
Capability to prioritize, accept responsibility and work within deadlines;
Superior organizational and problem-resolution skills; and
Demonstrated commitment to customer service.
PREFERRED:
Prior teaching or instructional experience in postsecondary or career education
Strong understanding of adult learning principles
Experience working with at-risk or non-traditional learners
Experience facilitating exam prep, tutoring, or coaching students
