The Role

We are seeking a Chief Operating Officer (COO) to own everything that happens after the ink is dry on the contract.

The COO will lead Operations, Customer Success, and Engineering Services — ensuring projects are delivered on time and at the highest quality. Flawless delivery builds trust and accelerates adoption, retention, and expansion — the engine of Enertiv’s growth.

The COO will work closely with the Founder & CEO and CFO to establish the operating foundation for long-term scalability.

Responsibilities

  • Build the operating model that enables Enertiv to scale from ~$10M to $50M ARR+.
  • Unlock Enertiv’s expansion revenue flywheel — faster expansions tied directly to flawless delivery.
  • Lead project delivery: contractor/vendor networks, installations, commissioning, and QA.
  • Build and manage a contractor and vendor ecosystem that delivers installation-heavy projects at scale, with high quality and strong margins.
  • Ensure customers onboard seamlessly, achieve time-to-value quickly, and expand.
  • Grow Engineering Services into a scalable, revenue-generating function.
  • Embed AI and automation into workflows to scale efficiently without linear headcount growth.
  • Align Operations, Customer Success, and Engineering Services into one integrated system with clear processes, handoffs, and KPIs.
  • Serve as a thought partner to the Founder & CEO and CFO, bringing operational insight to both daily decisions and long-term strategy.
  • Represent post-sale operations at the board level, delivering transparent dashboards that tie execution to ARR growth.

How You Lead

  • Growth Mindset: Views operations as a driver of ARR growth, margin expansion, and enterprise value — not just cost control.
  • Customer Focus: Measures success by client outcomes, expansions, and long-term trust.
  • Thought Partnership: Acts as a trusted partner to the Founder & CEO and CFO, contributing to both daily decision-making and long-term strategy.
  • Accountability: Holds themselves and their teams to uncompromising standards of execution and delivery.
  • Talent Leadership: Continuously raises the bar for team performance; develops top performers and addresses underperformance directly and fairly.
  • Clear Communicator: Translates complex operational and financial details into clear insights for executives, the board, and frontline teams.
  • Balanced Operator: Bias for action while building scalable processes that prevent a firefighting culture.
  • Resilience: Thrives in the ambiguity and pace of a scaling startup environment.
  • Grit & Frugality: Operates with scrappiness and resourcefulness; optimizes for impact per dollar spent and instills financial discipline across teams.

What Success Looks Like (12–18 Months)

  • 95%+ projects delivered on-time and on-budget.
  • Install cycle times reduced by 30–40%; project margins >35%.
  • NRR >120%; GRR >90%; CSAT >9/10; NPS +60.
  • Service/upsell revenue increased ≥20% YoY.
  • Expansion revenue becomes the largest driver of ARR growth, closing ≥30% faster.
  • Operations, Customer Success, and Engineering Services fully aligned on processes and KPIs, measured by unified systems and dashboards.

What We’re Looking For

  • Proven success scaling a SaaS or SaaS + hardware company from ~$10M → $50M ARR+.
  • Mechanical or electrical engineering background with the ability to credibly lead installation-heavy projects, manage vendor/contractor ecosystems, and oversee technical teams — combined with a track record of growing into senior operating leadership.
  • Experience working with commercial real estate landlords and tenants across logistics, data centers, multifamily, and office.
  • Senior leadership in installation-heavy, hardware-enabled SaaS.
  • Proven ability to raise the bar for team performance — developing top performers while addressing underperformance quickly and fairly.
  • Experience building and managing contractor/vendor ecosystems to deliver installation-heavy projects at scale and margin.
  • Track record of embedding AI-driven automation into operations.
  • Comfort with Enertiv’s preferred stack (Zoho, Notion, Front, Intercom).
  • Ability to represent operations at the board level.
