Brief Position Description (Job Summary)

The person in this position will be responsible for overseeing and optimizing the operations of the service shop. Including ensuring high-quality repairs and maintenance of Raymond, Toyota, and other material handling equipment. The Shop Manager is responsible for maximizing customer satisfaction, maintaining high employee morale, and fostering strong collaboration with other departments including parts, field service, and sales. This is achieved while maintaining an acceptable profit margin from shop operations.

 

Responsibilities

  • Organize and manage daily shop operations to ensure maximum efficiency and productivity
  • Supervisor shop personnel, including technicians and leads, ensuring adherence to safety standards and quality procedures
  • Identify training needs and coordinate technical training to maintain high competency in servicing techniques and new product knowledge
  • Monitor shop workflow, job scheduling, and turnaround times to meet or exceed service standards
  • Maintain and oversee shop tools, equipment and facility upkeep. All purchases must be approved by the Corporate Service Manager
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for the Shop Lead, supporting all aspects of shop operations as outlined in the Shop Lead job descriptions
  • Address and resolve internal and external service-related issues promptly
  • Collaborate with other departments to ensure seamless communication and coordination
  • Respond to emails, phone calls, and voicemails within one hour during normal business hours
  • Support warranty claim processes, including identifying and documenting warranty exceptions for submission to the Corporate Service Manager
  • Conduct performance reviews and provide opportunities for professional growth and development for shop personnel
  • Discuss all personnel decisions (hiring, termination, disciplinary actions) with direct manager prior to implementation
  • Perform other duties as assigned
