What the Lead Events Line Cook does

As the Lead Events Line Cook, you’ll execute seasonal menu items designed around world class Pinot Noirs and Chardonnays for winery events while also supporting the Culinary Leadership Team. Working at our the Los Gatos Winery, the day to day may include: 

  • Final plating of salad, entrees, appetizers and desserts and buffet items based on the design of the Chef de Cuisine
  • Assisting with the supervision, training and motivation of 7-10 cooks
  • Setting up, breaking down and cleaning, including food transport from catering van
  • Organizing, rotating, and assessing inventory levels of food storage areas 
  • Working efficiently in a face-paced environment

Requirements

As a Lead Events Line Cook, you will bring:

  • Minimum 3 years kitchen experience or similar culinary school training
  • Minimum 1+ year in a leadership/supervisory role in a food service setting
  • Must have current ServSafe and/or California Food Handlers Certification
  • Must possess valid driver’s license 
  • Safe knife skills
  • Respectful and effective communication
  • Effectively communicate in English, with some Spanish language capabilities preferred
  • Working Knowledge of Health & sanitation 
  • Ability to work effectively in a team
  • Must be proactive, have a sense of urgency and a positive attitude
  • Professional appearance

Work Environment & Physical Requirements

  • Must be available weekday evenings, plus holidays and weekends (schedule based on event bookings)
  • Walk, stand, bend, kneel, and reach frequently for the duration of the shift 
  • Lift and carry up to 50 pounds frequently
  • Handles sharp and hot tools regularly
  • Frequently utilizes cleaning chemicals
  • Drive to/from the offsite kitchen in San Jose to the Winery in Los Gatos, as needed
