OBJECTIVE:
Perform daily animal husbandry and execution of trial protocols for PAR and its clients.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS (other duties as assigned)
- Daily activities will include:
- Working with wean to finish pigs – 10–320-pound pigs
- Daily chores (Animal husbandry skills)
- Maintaining exceptional health and biosecurity
- Loading market hogs
- Data collection
- Weighing
- Daily record keeping
- Collection of diagnostics
- Feedlogic (Feed delivery system) maintenance
- Working with wean to finish pigs – 10–320-pound pigs
- High degree of accuracy necessary
- Work weekends
POSITION SPECIFICATIONS
Education:
High school diploma preferred but not required
Experience:
Agriculture experience preferred but not required
Work Environment:
Agricultural swine environment in rural area
Noise levels that require hearing protection in some areas
Modern wean-to-finish facilities.
Physical Requirements:
Standing, walking and ability to be on feet 8 to 10 hours per day
Frequent bending, reaching, squatting, and kneeling.
Frequent use of one or both hands/arms to grasp or pull.
Frequent lifting of objects weighing 3-20 pounds.
Occasional bending while pulling and/or lifting objects weighing up to 50 pounds or requiring up to 50 pounds of force to move.
Occasional bending while pulling and/or lifting objects weighing up to 100 pounds or requiring up to 100 pounds of force to move with the assistance of another person as needed.
Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
Additional Requirements:
Must be able to work most weekends.
Must have valid drivers license and reliable transportation to get to work and attend meetings.
