About the role
Join the Enterprise Data Office in the Specialist, Data Steward position. In this role, you will deliver core data governance capabilities across the organization.
This is a temporary position of a duration of 18 months.
What you’ll do:
- Perform internal monitoring and continuous improvement of metadata management, data issue management, data quality management, and remediation efforts and demonstrate progress through reporting of KPIs.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with business stakeholders to regularly intake and respond to business feedback, concerns, and questions related to their data landscape.
- Lead and play an active role in coordinating, contributing, developing, and presenting content to participants of data stewardship working groups.
- Advise the business on the application of various data management directives, guidelines and procedures including but not limited to data classification, data quality and metadata.
- Work with business users and subject matter experts to develop data quality rules and thresholds, and enable data quality monitoring.
- Work with SMEs and Data Custodians to identify, track and prioritize data issues as well as to assess root cause analysis and apply appropriate remediation.
What you should have:
- A bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Information Management or any other related field, an equivalent combination of education and/or experience may be considered.
- A minimum of 5 years experience in data management / governance including data project experience.
- A demonstrated experience with using a Data Governance / Management Platform (e.g. Collibra and Informatica platform) to document business metadata.
- A solid understanding of data governance principles and data management process including data management lifecycle.
- Strong organizational skills and ability to work on several initiatives simultaneously with tight deadlines.
- Demonstrated problem solving and decision-making skills with the ability to work in a team environment, take initiative and work independently.
- Strong communication and presentation skills with the ability to relate technical information to a non-technical audience.
It would be great if you also had:
- A broad understanding of mortgage loan insurance, affordable/social programs, real estate and finance.
- Certified Data Management Professional (DAMA) and/or Certified Data Management Capability Assessment Model (DCAM) certifications.
- Bilingualism (English and French).
